For the Bruges Triennial, New York-based architecture and design firm STUDIOKCA constructed a 38 ft tall breaching humpback whale made from over 10,000 pounds of plastic ocean waste.

The project is an effort an effort to address how cities from across the globe are contributing to the estimated 150 million tons of plastic waste that has piled up in our oceans. STUDIOKCA teamed up with the Hawaii Wildlife Fund to organize several beach clean-ups to collect the plastic waste used for the installation.
