In this beautiful capture we see Maiden with the seagull, located on the coast of Opatija, Croatia. The statue was created by Zvonko Car in 1956, and stands elegantly on the reef beside the Lungomare promenade. According to Wikipedia:
A gilded variant of the statue Madonna, that once stood here but was demolished by communists after the end of World War II, now stands in front of Saint James’s Church.
The scenery is especially impressive by night, when the statue is lighted with special reflectors or during the stormy weather when waves splash and water scatters over the reef giving the appearance of a nymph rising from the spray. [source]
