YouTuber Alli Kat recently published an introductory video essay on the startling similarities between Disney’s The Lion King and Osamu Tezuka’s Kimba the White Lion. Kimba was created in 1950, and animated in 1965. The Lion King came out in 1994.

A google search will unearth many articles on the controversy. While any cartoon about animals with lions as the protagonists are sure to have similarities, it was the aggressive campaign by Disney about The Lion King’s originality that has irked some. What do you think?
