Inspired by sites like Type Fight, Kyson Dana and Jeffrey Smith challenged each other to a sketchbook duel, but rather than using graphic design and typography as their genre, they decided to take things into a more illustrative arena.
The rules for the competition were that they had to draw one animal per day and post it to Instagram (here and here) by midnight. The animal had to start with the letter of the day and the composition could be created using any medium. The artists made their way through the alphabet beginning with the letter ‘A’ for a full 26 days and never missed a sketch.
The pressure of producing a solid sketch grew more and more with each day and they saw their standard for what they posted slowly rise with each new day. You can see all of the sketches on their respective websites: Kyson Dana, Jeffrey Smith.
