Builders Recreate the Bat Cave Using 20,000 Pieces of LEGO

Written by

Using over 20,000 pieces of LEGO, Wayne Hussey and Carlyle Livingston faithfully reconstructed Bruce Wayne’s famous Bat Cave out of LEGO. The Bat Cave was first displayed at Emerald City ComiCon in late March of 2012. It then made an appearance at Jet City Comic Show and then BrickCon 2012.

The pair estimate that they spent 400 hours each over three months building this. They started in early January of 2012 and finished in late March. The structure weighs in at 100 pounds and the entire roof lifts off and then splits into three sections for ease of transport (seen here).

There are four LEGO Power Functions motors and everything works off of batteries. Every piece is LEGO except some of the lighting and two pieces related to the lighting. At the bottom of the gallery (#13) you can see a video tour of the LEGO Bat Cave and see all of the mechanics and moving parts which make this Bat Cave even more incredible.

Great work guys! The Sifter salutes you.
