Levitation Portraits by Natsumi Hayashi

Written by

The Sifter first featured Natsumi Hayashi’s levitation portraits last February but the series is so fun, a follow-up post felt appropriate. What really distinguishes Natsumi’s levitation photos from mere captures of a person in mid-jump is the body control and feeling of movement.

You’ll notice her body and face doe’t look strained, and her hair, clothes and accessories aren’t flailing about. This really helps convey a sense of levitation and floating.

Natsumi lives in Tokyo, Japan with her two cats. For an explanation on how she takes her photos, check out this page on her website. You’ll need to use Google Translate if you don’t speak Japanese!
