For his final university project, Konstantin Suslov embarked on an incredible project to honor and remember the veterans of World War II. Capturing stunning portraits of these heroes, the beautiful composition of each portrait stands as a testament to the bravery and courage of these war veterans.

For current and future generations, it’s hard to comprehend the impact and importance of such an event. These photographs serve as a small window to this critical point in our history. PORTRAITS OF WORLD WAR II VETERANS BY KONSTANTIN SUSLOV

Photographer’s Description: In the light of the 65th Anniversary of the end of war, I felt that it was a timely moment to create a documental historical record of people across the world who were once united under the banner of the World War Two. The record that will endure the memory of those great individuals who fought 65 years ago for my generation and many generations to come.

The project has gained a lot of interest and has been widely exhibited in some prestigious galleries around the country, such as the Association of Photographers Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, HOST Gallery, Richard Kalman Gallery etc.

‘These photographs of surviving World War II heroes are masterfully crafted testaments to their subjects.’
– Mark Jenkinson

‘His subtle use of lighting and composition imbue his images with a strange familiarity, and at the same time a sensation of distance and nostalgia.’
– Rodrigo Orrantia

‘The dignity, courage and pride of the World War II veterans, has been so wonderfully preserved by Konstantin and his camera’
– Pro Photo Magazine

Konstantin Suslov – Artist’s Bio

Konstantin Suslov started photographing at the age of 14-15 years old, just a few years before he entered Middlesex University’s Photography programme in 2007. He graduated in the summer of 2010 (First Class Honours).

As a final year project he created his best known series called ‘WW2 Veterans’, which has been successfull in a number of exhibitions and competitions in the United Kingdom.

For him personally, it was one of the most exciting and eye-opening projects he has done. However this type of work has never had a dominating role in Konstantin’s recent work.

Fashion and retouching are a few of the main focuses of his creativity. There’s something that he likes in numerous subjects of photography, so he is still trying to discover his creative niche in order to combine his technical obsession with a creative vision.

Konstantin continues to work on ‘WW2 Veterans’ and is thinking of starting another long-going project soon. [Source: Official Website]
