TIME’s Latest Cover is a Drone Photo of 958 Drones

Written by

For TIME’s June 11, 2018 cover, the first ever shot by a drone, the magazine worked with Intel’s Drone Light Show team, Astraeus Aerial Cinema Systems and L.A. Drones—plus 958 drones set to display a precise shade of red, and another one to hold a camera in the air at just the right angle.

The result was one of the biggest drone shows ever produced in the U.S. For those interested you can read all of the featured stories found in TIME’s special report on “The Drone Age” here.

In the behind-the-scenes video embedded below you can see how the team achieved the impressive feat.
