Isn't it exciting to have another day to wake up and bless our families? To put love into everything around you and to warm the hearts of our beloved children? I am so saddened to hear of women who neglect their homes and don't look at every act of motherhood as a sacred moment to bestow blessings of Christ upon those whom they cherish. The little things, ladies, it's all about the little things! The hot cocoa on a cold day, the pat on the back, the hug and loving smile...we have to get back to the basics! Let us GLORY in making meals and put love into our meals! Let's lay out a pretty tablecloth and light those lovely candles! Let's hold hands and pray to the Lord who has provided us all good things. Let's look at the falling leaves together and just relish the moment... become a child again. Feel the wonder of childhood all over again. Let's greet our wonderful hubbies with a big grin and kiss and speak words of life into him when he gets home? Not used to it? Well, just shock him! Shock him off his feet and know the Spirit is doing a mighty work in your home life. Are you encouraged here? I love Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol: it is a must-see every year during the holidays. John C. Derr has written Another Christmas Carol, which is a modern update to the classic story. This time, the character that has a chance to be redeemed is a very driven woman, Ellie Printh. She runs a very successful business but shuns all human warmth and connection. All the elements of the original are there, starting with the first ghost, a person in her past, who has come to warn her about the three Ghosts of Christmas that will visit her that night. The interactions and scenes that follow are all quite original, and we are never sure of the outcome for Ellie. Taking on a classic like A Christmas Carol is a formidable challenge but one that John C. Derr does well in Another Christmas Carol. Each of his characters is well thought out and fully dimensional. Ellie is a worthy contemporary Scrooge, and I enjoyed the fact that the original story was referenced several times. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is fantastically updated from the original, terrifying in a whole new way. Derr has accomplished a great feat, taking a well-known story and making it feel fresh and new but still keeping the emotional impact of the original. Another Christmas Carol will be enjoyed by those who love Dickens's version and those unfamiliar with the original. Derr has written a story that could become a new Christmas classic.
Highlights Welcome to the gorgeous little Scottish village of Christmas, where snow is falling, presents are being wrapped and the locals are writing their festive wish lists. Author(s): Donna Ashcroft 296 Pages Fiction + Literature Genres, Romance Description Book Synopsis Welcome to the gorgeous little Scottish village of Christmas, where snow is falling, presents are being wrapped and the locals are writing their festive wish lists. Will this finally be the year that Belle's dreams come true? Thirty-year-old Belle Albany is feeling lonely this Christmas. Another whole year has passed and her life is... exactly the same as it was last December. She longs for true love and a little bit of winter magic - but she's almost given up on finding it in the sleepy Scottish community where she lives... When Belle crashes into elderly Edina on her cherry red bicycle, it's not the meet-cute she'd been hoping for. But she immediately recognises the lost look in Edina's watery-blue eyes and resolves to organise a Christmas to remember for them both - brimming with mince pies, mulled wine and lots of sparkle. Although Belle hadn't counted on Edina's home being a crumbling Scottish castle and she certainly hadn't been expecting Edina's handsome long-lost grandson Jack Hamilton-Kirk to turn up on the doorstep in the middle of a snow storm... Jack is arrogant, rude and bossy and Belle is convinced he's about to ruin the seasonal cheer she has worked hard to create. He's basically the Grinch in human form, so why does her heart race every time they're in the same room? They disagree on almost everything, from menu choices to music, and yet she starts to glimpse a softer side hidden behind Jack's clipped words and brooding countenance. As they hunt down costumes for the annual nativity show and save a donkey from a snowy disaster, Belle can't ignore their growing attraction. But will a secret from Jack's past come between them? Or will this finally be the year Belle falls in love? This gorgeous, festive read is like a warm hug in a book! The perfect cosy romance to snuggle up with this Christmas. Maine innkeeper Holly White returns to sleuth another seasonal slaying in the third Christmas Tree Farm mystery from bestselling author Jacqueline Frost. Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm is going into the B&B business, and Holly White is looking forward to her new role as innkeeper. Even better, Mistletoe, Maine's sheriff, Evan Gray, has deputized his little sister Libby to help Holly wrap presents for Mistletoe's toy drive. But a cold wind ruffles the cheery holiday decorations when a new guest checks in: Karen, a vicious B&B critic, who could make or break the new inn. And the short December days turn even darker when Evan and Libby find Karen's dead body in the gift-wrapped toy donation box. The suspect list is longer than Santa's naughty list, and local resident Cookie is on it, since her fingerprints are all over the murder weapon, a metal nutcracker that she gave to Holly. So is Libby, who recently moved to town from Boston in less-than-savory circumstances. But cranky Karen was an oh-holy-nightmare to lots of the townsfolk, such as Evan's reporter friend Ray; Christopher, the inn's former contractor; and confectioner Bonnie, whose Gum Drop Shop was a direct target of Karen's scathing prose. To figure out the killer's identity and clear Cookie's name, Holly and her friends brainstorm at The Hearth, the farm's café, while her mother keeps them fueled with Christmas goodies fresh from the oven. But if they can't put the culprit on ice, Holly may never see another Christmas. | Author: Jacqueline Frost | Publisher: Crooked Lane Books | Publication Date: Aug 22, 2023 | Number of Pages: 320 pages | Language: English | Binding: Paperback | ISBN-10: 1639104445 | ISBN-13: 9781639104444
