Upgrade your cozy with a Northerly Nook! Customized booth, bench, and banquette seating with integrated cabinet storage. At Northerly Customs, our furniture is made from high-quality, clear-coated Baltic birch (other veneers available). Built-in storage compartments behind the backrests and under the seats provide the perfect home for all manner of doodads and miscellany. Thoughtfully and ergonomically designed to prioritize your comfort and leisure, and to support your household’s dynamic lifestyle. You tell us the size and shape you need, and we’ll build you a custom-cut flat-pack kit that you assemble yourself using simple, precision press-fit joinery. Our Etsy store lists a range of representative sizes for example pricing, but we will custom design your piece to fit your space down to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. Our work has sustainability in mind from design to build. We partner with local wood shops near you (wherever you are), so you can pick up your custom Northerly Nook kit without the burden, material waste and long wait times of traditional delivery methods. Additionally, we’ll ship you a small box that contains all the hardware and tools you need for an easy build. The pricing here is based on you picking up your kit in Bellingham, Washington. If your parts are to be built closer to where you live, we'll update our pricing based on having your parts cut at a shop near you. Cushion costs are not included in the pricing here. With your kit, we'll supply you a detailed cushion drawing; you can shop for cushions, build them yourself, or you can choose to order them from us. Our cushions are lovingly built in Bellingham by seasoned marine upholsterers using durable marine fabrics, and are shipped right to you. We use a 3" thick, high-density foam with a published life of 12-18 years. This is wrapped in Dacron batting to plump out your covers for a neat, wrinkle-free look. For the size of this Baidarka example, you can expect the cushions to cost about $330 plus tax and shipping. If you want, we can add a custom-cut tabletop to your job, and tell you where to buy appropriate legs for banquette seating. This is typically $400 - $500 extra. We will also offer a soft-close hinge upgrade, which we highly recommend for the smooth feel of a modern kitchen. That is typically $100 - $200 depending on the number of storage compartments in your benches. It’s crucial our work fits your space just right. The price of your Northerly Nook includes a very thorough custom design process. We’ll work out all the details with you, including fitting the piece to your space and detailed design to accommodate your electrical outlets, heating vents, baseboards, windows, and cabinets. We can also offer real-time support during assembly if you need it. And by “we”, we mean “I”. I'm passionate about helping people make their homes cozy. And as a seasoned mechanical engineer I pride myself in precision work and clear communication.
