4/4/08 My thrift-sifting sister called me the day I was moving in to say that she bought this dresser and that I had to drop everything to pick it up. I ended up getting stuck in an hour of traffic, arriving 5 minutes after the shop closed. The shopkeeper let me keep her there late to wrestle it out of the back of the tight little shop, wheel it out to my car, only to discover that my cargo door was two inches to narrow for it to fit. came back the next morning bright and early in a borrowed truck totally worth the hassle. I love this piece. There was a dog tag, a sock, and granny panties stuck in the back of it. Now It sucks up blankets and board games and wrapping paper. the globe is a local antique shop purchase.
SOLD!!!!! I just finished this awesome 9 drawer dresser and 2 drawer night stand set and now I no longer want to sell it! But, we don't need another dresser, so here it goes. It has been painted a purple "mulberry" color and finished with a black glaze and polyurethane. Pictures do not do these justice. The detail you can see in person is amazing. They are both extremely heavy and well made! These are the original hardware, unfortunately somewhere in its life, one of the pulls broke. The knobs all just looked so great that I just left it on. I think they are perfect for this dresser. So the new owner will have to decide what they think about them! I am asking $550 for the pair and have low cost delivery available! I'm not used to the warm weather - there have definitely been more trips to the store for watermelons, popsicles, and those fabulous little Haagen Daaz mini ice cream cartons lately! The joys of summer! I wanted to share some photos I took of our collection of dresser pots. I am IN LOVE with antique porcelain dresser pots and powder jars. They are getting very hard to find! Between my Mum and I we barely have half a dozen and we are always searching for more. They remind me of chic ladies sat at their dressing tables draped in satin and lace and a powder puff in their hand. I wonder if they really were filled with powders and creams? I love to keep jewelry and trinkets in them or little flowers. Here are just a few photos of them! I hope everyone is having a happy July!
