Bruno Pontiroli creates mind-bending explorations of the relationship between humans and animals, painting limber cows doing impressive handstands or an over-eager man embracing a large walrus, much to its chagrin. The artist shies away from labeling his work as Surrealist or Dadaist, instead proposing a new version of reality without categorization. Pontiroli will exhibit work with Galerie Klaus Kiefer at art KARLSRUHE from February 21 to 24, 2019 and with Fousion Gallery at Urvanity Art Madrid from February 28 to March 3, 2019. More

Summer is finally here—the official season of both the road trip and the getaway. There’s no better time to take a “little” vacation? (pun intended). In the spirit of summer, we are featuring a short series of posts that will spotlight the absolute best miniatures museums from around the world. Needless to say, each and every one of t
Some Italian real-life towns, because of their characteristic lay-out or the fairy-tale atmosphere they exude when they light up and glow at night, look exactly like these miniature Christmas villages that are so popular in Italy. Below is a list of these città presepe, which offer an out-of-this-world sight of typical little Italian Nativity scenes, covered by snow or clinging to rock pinnacles.
I went to see these beautiful mosaics as I'd seen an article about them. They're on the floor of a shopping mall and there are thirteen in total. I felt that they weren't appreciated there. This is my favourite. They're not easy to photograph because of the glare from the overhead lights. These marble and smalti pavement mosaics are by Emma Biggs and were unveiled in March 2004. They are situated in Wharf Walk, a thoroughfare running the length of the Jubilee Place shopping complex in east London's Canary Wharf development. They take their theme from the history of the Docklands area, depicting the range of goods and commodities which used to pass through the docks. Each mosaic is surrounded by lettering with information about the subject shown. I’ve just found another kindred spirit. Someone who understands my deep-rooted Capricorn need to find new uses for old or unwanted things. Maude Smith is the kind of person that will cover her entire kitchen in wine corks, shells and pieces of broken crockery. Rather than re-tiling her bathroom, she’ll meticulously paint every single tile…
