The custom RE Himalayan gets an aftermarket exhaust, blinkers, headlamps and some other premium feature like a touchscreen GPS navigation
It's almost time for Fuel Bespoke Motorcycles to kick off their eighth annual Scram Africa expedition. It's a 4,000 km dirt tour that happens in North Africa, specifically for classics and modern classics. So it's also a great excuse to build a new custom bike. The Spanish shop has just buttoned up this retro-fabulous scrambler, and it suits the Scram ethos perfectly. It's based on a 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan, chosen for its simplicity and relatively compact proportions. The Himalayan's 411 cc single only makes 24.5 hp and 32 Nm; they're not big numbers, but neither is the purchase price
In 2016, Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan, a 411cc adventure-touring machine designed by none other than Pierre Terblanche, the legendary motorcycle designer best known for his work with Ducati. The engine is an air-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC single that makes around 25 horsepower and 24 pound-f
Royal Enfield have unveiled the Himalayan, an all-terrain 411cc motorcycle, as part of its plans to expand its product range in the mid-sized bike segment. With an adventuring appeal, the rugged Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with a five speed gearbox
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been creeping into showrooms around the world by stealth. Originally designed to be a simple, mid-size ADV for the Indian market, it’s now on sale in the USA and Europe. Custom builders love simplicity, which makes the Himalayan a good candidate for stripping down without getting bricked by an electronics glitch. So the UK arm of Royal Enfield called up Bali’s finest, Smoked Garage. “The Himalayan’s all-terrain capability makes it perfect for a flat tracker-style build,” says Smoked’s Nicko Eigert. Royal Enfield wanted a ‘modern’ looking bike, in line with the DNA of Smoked Garage.
Our crew of Upshift International contributors have delivered the goods on this one, starting with Greg Smith. Greg travels to the Himalayan mountains on a Royal Enfield Bullet and proves you can still have an epic ride without all the latest bells and whistles. Then we revisit the “Amsterdam to Anywhere” duo of Leonie Sinnige and Peter Scheltens as they make their way through unknown roads across several continents. For U.S. off-road we have Part 2 of Olivier de Vaulx’s ride across the Continental Divide from Mexico up to Canada on his modified Honda XR650L; the hidden landscapes are something you won’t want to miss. Then the Upshift crew of Simon Cudby and Chris Glaspell report from Star Mountain in British Columbia, Canada to take part in the first ever KTM Canada Adventure Rally where they put a fresh set of KTM 1090 Adventures to the test. In this month’s Tested section, we check out Cardo Systems Scala Rider Packtalk communication device and the MSR Hubba Tour 1

OBIBOI.

The motorcycle industry has had its fair share of doomsayers this year, but the EICMA show in Milan was full of fireworks. There were concepts aplenty—led by the Indian FTR1200 tracker, the Honda CB4 Interceptor and the Moto Guzzi V85. But the production bikes were just as good, and that’s what we’re focusing on now. The six fine machines shown here will be rolling into showrooms soon, and angling after a place in your garage. You have been warned. Honda CB1000R Honda’s last attempt at a ‘modern classic’ was the CB1100—an honest, attractive machine that failed to set the marketplace
