Pinterest is great for inspiration when creating interior design for the home, but it also has a lot to answer for. Because some people take their creative ideas way too far, and end up with monstrosities like you'll find below.

People often ask us, in real life and over social media, if we ever disagree about design plans for our house. The answer is a big yes. I don’t think I’m even comfortable sharing how big a yes it is, but for any given paint color, furniture piece, or choice of moulding in our house, you’d be right t
We have all seen it in movies: those wonderful antique furniture items that are no longer for sale in the modern age, from clunky treasure-trunk style cases to sturdy hand-held suitcases. While the price tag may be prohibitive, this remade case brings a classic back to life. In a way, this trave ...
Look what landed at my house over the weekend? My Mr. and I took off Friday on a hunt. We got up at 3:30 AM...that's a in the m, talking. and drove to Salt Lake City (apparently, that is where retired vintage trailers are) We had narrowed it down to 2 choices... on the drive I asked My Mr. what he was looking for. He said he wanted something inexpensive, that we could use to go camping with the kids, and that was NOT a lot of work. We looked at the first one... It was $600.00 but needed new tires before we could leave town; It was clean on the inside with just a bit of water damage. but we still wanted to look at Choice #2. This one was one My MR. had been working on for 2 weeks. The seller would not send us interior photos now, we knew why it was a mess...dirty, gross, water damage but wait he'll take $375... We went with this info: 10 Things To Look For When Buying A Vintage Trailer...found here Choice #2 had 7 out of 10 things... wrong!!! I pretty much left the choice up to My MR. (He does need to pick some things, right?) I really wanted choice #1..it was easy and ready for me to start decorating... Guess which one My MR. choose? Yep, the project . ??????? Yep, I'm still confused, too. I think he liked the *canned ham* lines. This is the story of our life We buy work. We have a family camp-out scheduled in 2 weeks. No problem, right? We came home and took out as much stuff as possible, started cleaning, then primed the entire thing in oil-based primer. Already, she is much better. I kept saying, "white paint is my friend" If you follow my pinterest boards...you can see what I have been pinning for the past week. ahh...the internet....so many ideas... my head is spinning from the possibilities. First, there is the outside: This one is just too cute. I'm sure My MR.could do polka dots. No problem, it would be easy. (the pearl...found here) Then, there is this one. The paint color matches the paint color of our pink lady The ever popular turquoise and then there is the placement of color.... Do I even want color? How about just white? Next, we get to think about the inside. I could do this look. (kind of like my girl's bedroom) vintage-y but bright and happy Then there is the good ole shabby-look I could use up a few things I've been hanging onto like my Simply Shabby accessories How about retro? Magnolia Pearl style? Romantic? I love the beadboard and embossed wallpaper These are important decisions, right? After, I pulled out a few fabric choices...My MR. saw a floral print and said "Don't make it pretty". What?! I think he forgot who he married! I'm not even sure that is possible. (He doesn't even know I've been dreaming of chandeliers) He suggested industrial...I guess he has been listening when I chat on about decorating styles. I think this one marries pretty and industrial just perfectly, don't you? This year our community offered no shortage of inspiration in the form of creative studio apartments.
Below are a few updated pictures of some of the rooms in our house that were taken after rearranging some of our furniture to make room for Baby P. I don't know if y'all remember the post I did about all the house projects I had for 2016. While I admitted it was a pretty intense list; I don't think we will be able to tackle all of the items with a baby on the way. I have done a few of the small items, for example: paint the middle guest bedroom walls white organize and declutter the two guest closets organize the pantry I am in the process of getting a quote for the kitchen phase 2 remodel I have a quote on adding trim work in the dining room and master bedroom with a new paint of coat While the kitchen redo is still at the top of the list and if all works out well and in our timeframe it might get accomplished this year. The trim details and utility room will most likely not get done this year. This doesn't discourage me it actually makes me sit back and think of where I see Amos and myself in the next 3-5 years and if all of these changes are necessary for our home. We have already been in our house 2-1/2 years and accomplished a lot and love our house and area, but with a baby on the way we don't really know about the schools in our area or if this is our "forever" house. If our family continues to grow we will surely outgrow our current home. This gets me daydreaming and contemplating of other areas and houses that I think would be right for us in the future. I think ideally the thought processes is in the next 3-5 years Amos and I look into building our dream house (or close to) on a piece of property. Where this property will be I have no idea, most likely not in our beloved loop in Houston, but a place where it will be our forever house and great for raising our family with good schools. We would have to sell our house in order to build, but we could stay in Amos's rental property assuming it was not rented out in that time when we were looking to build. I have always wanted to build and have dreamed and pinned so many house plans/designs for as long as I can remember. With these plans possibly in our near future this makes me think how far do I want to go on the plans I have for our current house. So going back to the project list for 2016 I believe the kitchen still is a must and will add so much value and functionality to the home while we are living there and if we plan to sell in the future. While these are all only thoughts I'm thinking and sharing out loud I'm curious to see how things will turn out for Amos and I. Will we stay here at our current house for a long time, will we build, so many questions and so many unknowns. I'm curious to know y'alls thoughts and how parents make these tough decisions when it comes to raising a family. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts with y'all and I hope I haven't rambled on too long. Enjoy some of our updated pictures around the house. This living room had a few great existing architectural details, but needed some serious TLC. Paint was the most important element of this makeover,
