Whether it's pale hues of chalky French Grey, chic glossy charcoal against crisp pure white, or restful soft shades of dusted blue green, exterior paint shades can make a world of difference. The right paint shades add a warm welcome to any home be it of mellow stone, whitewashed render or smart red brick . Here are a few of my favourite looks to welcome guests to your front door. This material is extremely sturdy and long-lasting It can be used in building, manufacturing, decoration, as a food source, and the list goes on. It grows at an astonishing rate. It can be harvested without the death of the crop. Once you cut down a hardwood, that tree is dead. Replace that tree, may take up to 20 years before you can harvest a viable crop again. By Dorothy Ainsworth Issue #154 • July/August, 2015 Just thinking about a greenhouse can stimulate the senses. In our minds’ eyes, we can see the filtered light shimmering down on rows of greenery, feel the moist warm air, smell the rich soil, and even taste a juicy tomato. I am always amazed at how quickly I can get through a project once I have a vision! This fabric has been sitting in a pile for at least a year. It was a fabric pull I put together from a bunch of older, "unloved" stash pieces. I knew there was a quilt in there but every time I would pick it up to work on it, I was immediately distracted by something else. I finally just decided to start cutting without a plan. I knew the Jane Sassaman floral was going to require some fussy cutting. I started with the biggest designs and then just kept cutting out all the areas I liked. Once the designs were cut out, I started framing them with some of the other fabrics and throwing them up on my design wall. I saved the largest cut of the blue fabric in hopes that I might be able to use it for the background or the backing. Once I had the blocks where I liked them, it was time to make a final choice on the background. I only had a limited amount of blue and with the blocks being placed willy nilly, it was any ones guess how much fabric I would need. I decided just to go for it and use the blue. And yes, there was a lot of head scratching and partial seams to get this one sewn up! With just a few tiny strips of blue fabric left over, I was able to get it sewn up and loaded onto my longarm for some quick daisy-chain quilting. From "unloved" to loved! I am so pleased I went with the blue print for the background! My favorite part of the quilt is the diagonal tulip rectangles. Maybe because I am so looking forward to spring! And an orange print for the backing! Finishing up this quilt was my One Monthly Goal for January so I will be celebrating by linking up to Red Letter Quilts. Lucy, Clea and Richard Turvill have been here now, in the house they built, for about 5 years. While they lived in London their countrified alter-egos had been well disguised. I thought they were truly metropolitan, but now I realise that they were sheep in wolves clothing, they are completely embedded here.
