Belgium-based illustrator and filmmaker Vincent Bal (previously) sees the playful potential of shadows cast by eyeglasses, a peeled clementine, and other household objects. Completed with minimal sketches in black ink, Bal’s reimagined scenes transform the holes of a colander into winter snowfall, an open headphone case into a glum dog, and the translucent blue light from a plastic cup into a swimming pool. His clever illustrations are part of an ongoing Shadowology project, which includes the inventive pieces shown here and a short film about a boy whose doodles come alive. More
The inspiration for the illustrated works of Belgian filmmaker and illustrator Vincent Bal (previously) comes from the shadows cast by everyday objects and detritus from the world around him. Bits of trash and spare items from his home are reimagined as curvy outlines for a cast of characters that range from a young girl in a rainstorm to DJ in his flow. Other items, like a textured glass, create the perfect sun-spotted water for a backyard pool. More

For Vincent Bal, it all started with the simple shadow of a teacup
The art by Adèle Fugère is certainly a prime example of how the mind of a creative person works. Within this, each object takes on the most unthinkable forms, leaving its ordinary context towards a…

Using shadows to create drawings? See more in the post. This is how Vincent Bal describes himself: "Filmmaker and doodler and procrastinator from Belgium. It's a fulltime job." As well as directing films, this Belgian Artist, with a sharp sense of humour, creates doodles using shadow, which is what I am going to cover in today's post. The following is another quote from him: "I'm a filmmaker who always liked to draw. lately I started drawing silly doodles involving shadows and objects. When I make a film it takes three years at least from idea to audience. Here it takes two minutes. Nice." Car Charged Cuisine. Press the Image to Enlarge it. Is it Friday yet?
