Sometimes it can be tricky to come up with interesting ways to teach and recap on memory verses we want the children to learn. Here's an idea we will be using this Sunday as we revisit a memory verse about worship! Step 1: Write out your memory verse in a grid (as far as possible!). You may need to split the Bible reference into several different squares or group words together so that it fits into the number of spaces you have. Give the children some time to memorize where the words are! Step 2: Cover each word with some post it notes (I needed 3 layers for each space so the words didn't show through). Step 3: Split the children into two teams and give each team a different colour pen. Get teams to take turns in choosing a space and saying which word should be under the post it. If they are correct, they can circle the word in their team colour. They can discuss answers in their team but a different person must speak each time. Step 4: The first team with three words in a row is the winner!
My Sunday School kids loved this mana from heaven game we played. It's the biggest hit of all.

If you’re teaching kids about the Bible, one of the best things to do is to play games. Kids learn by playing, and anytime you say the word “game”, attention instantly gets higher. These games are different games that you can play along with the miracles of Jesus. Need some resources for your Bible class? […]
Many churches do incredible things to communicate and I saw a fantastic one a few days ago I couldn't wait to share with you--this is a church information kiosk
Use the Jesus Calms The Storm Word Search as a fun activity for your next children's sermon.
Understanding why kids misbehave is the first step to eliminating discipline problems. Get smart with these discipline tips.
I used this idea in an assembly yesterday, focussing on people we trust and what it means to trust God. This would work really well if you are exploring miracle stories or stories about trust. Suitable verses to use with it might be: Joshua 1:9: Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Psalm 56: 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. John 14: 1 Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me I have to admit that this trick is not an original idea. I found the trick in this book: Simple Science Object Talks by Heno Head Jnr and would definitely recommend getting cold of a copy if you can! You will need: A glass of water (about half- 2/3 filled) and an index card. This is what you do: place the index card over the top of the glass, making sure that the whole of the rim is covered by it, and press down. Hold onto the top of the card with one hand and move your other hand down the glass, towards the bottom of it. Carefully flip the glass upside down, making sure you keep holding the card in place. You may get a TINY bit of drip page at this point, but don't panic! Now slowly move your card holding hand out from underneath and the card should stick, holding the water at bay! I love using science in assemblies because it is generally fool-proof, as long as you have a little practice first. I got a teacher in the assembly to sit at the front and asked if they trusted me to turn the glass of water upside down on top of their head? Even if I covered it with the card? They were not too eager! I then performed the science and it went down very well! We talked about the fact that what was holding the card in place was the air pressure pressing upwards (stronger than gravity pressing downwards). Please forgive my scientific explanations- they are not my strong suit! We can't see the air pressure but we know it must be working or the water would drop out. We can't see God but we know that he is there holding us up and supporting us too. The teacher might not have wanted to trust me, but I knew what I was doing and God knows what He is doing! Talk about: What is trust? Who do you trust and why? Have you ever trusted God? When might you need to God? Encourage children to all have a go at he trick, but make sure you have something ready to collect the drips just in case!
INSIDE: An object lesson on faith for Christian kids, plus a book that will help your kids understand WHY they can have faith in a loving God.
Through this series of 42 lessons we’ll be introducing children to fullness of God’s character one attribute at a time. Most churched children will tell you that God created the world, or He rescues His people, or even that Jesus came to earth to rescue God’s people, but the goal of these lessons is for them to begin to know more of who He is and what it means to worship Him for who He is.
This post is a couple of Bible bulletin boards from my niece Nicole! These bulletin boards are used with permission by Nicole Whitacre. I have copied/pasted her notes that she has written to help you to recreate them. These are ideas for you to use, and I do not have any printables to add for Nicole's bulletin boards. Thanks Nicole! We used the green bulletin board paper and used white duct tape to make the lines. The words on the football are singing, praying, listening, and studying. The goal posts that are used are from a game that my son has. The squishy footballs were purchased at Dollar Tree in the toy department. We made a shelf and then put sticks standing straight up. Next, we used the small flame diecut and used red, yellow, and orange tissue paper to make them. We used white decorative rocks to put around the sticks. Then we added branches and placed an extra large marshmallow on them. We used a glue gun to place the s'mores together on the board. My note: The ladder looks like Balsa wood and Nicole said it was attached with Glue Dots! We both use Glue Dots for a lot of projects!

This week we have a "NEW" Bible Lesson. Please remember, that each of my lessons last 2 weeks. The first week, I spend introducing the lesson, facts, places, etc. The next week we do a very detailed review...this gives me an opportunity to see if the KIDDOS missed something or if I forgot to share something the KIDDOS needed to know. I LOVE teaching this way. It has proven to be very beneficial to me and the KIDDOS. This is the card we will add to our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN" wall. This is my TIMELINE...it helps me show the KIDDOS when in Bible History the events took place....With the focus on the COMING of JESUS!! We will have a new WORD for our WORD WALL. Since we do not live in the time of animal sacrifices...I want to make sure the KIDDOS understand what an ALTAR is/was. For visuals, I decided to use the same Elijah that I used last week...I just printed and laminated a KING Ahab and a few of the Prophets of Baal. I also printed, laminated and constructed two altars. I made sure the altars looked different...and Elijah's has 12 stones! Our Memory Verse for this weeks comes directly from the Lesson Text. 1 Kings 18:39. We will be singing this to the Tune: "The Bear Went Over the Mountain." I have added Mount Carmel to our Map... We will be referring to Elijah's travels....After all, he has been to the Brook Cherith, Sidon and is now coming back to Israel to "meet up" with Ahab. The KIDDOS will be decorating a ROCK as their "TAKE HOME" activity. I have already coded the rocks with the words, "The Lord Is God!" The KIDDOS will use Sharpie Paint Pens to decorate their ROCK. They will add whatever decorations to the ROCK that they want...I will give them a few suggestions: HEARTS, FLOWERS, RAINBOWS, HAPPY FACES, ETC. But, ultimately it will be their choice. By the way, these ROCKS came from the Pacific Ocean. My family and I took a vacation to Ocean Side, California in 2011. I collected a bunch of rocks...(my father-in-law was convinced I was crazy.) I knew I would use some of those MANY rocks for Bible Class Projects. (So, even when on vacation---THINK ABOUT BIBLE CLASSES, LESSONS, STORIES, ETC.) Since the KIDDOS will be allowed to use MARKERS---they are going to be BEYOND excited. However, because these are PERMANENT Markers, I will quickly establish the RULES. #1 RULE: Do Not Color On Anything, But The Rock!!" :-) For our REVIEW GAME, we will be building an ALTAR. The KIDDOS will answer a question from the lesson. Then they will have the opportunity to set a stone in place. We are building Elijah's Altar---so, take notice, I have 12 Stones. (I paper mached these ROCKS a LOOONG time ago. I have used them in teaching so many different Bible Stories...if you have time and opportunity, I would suggest you make some ROCKS.) Next Week the KIDDOS will be making Elijah's Altar to add to their "EXPLORER JOURNAL." They will glue on a STONE for EACH TRIBE. This will be a great time to REVIEW the sons of Jacob.... They will also add the FLAMES. I just cut the FIRE area out of the paper...and we are gluing on SPARKLY paper in RED or YELLOW to the Back. (Since, my KIDDOS are small and DO NOT WRITE WELL----I have already written the names of each TRIBE on the STONES. If I was teaching this to older KIDDOS, I would let them WRITE the names of the TRIBES on the STONES. I will say, there is a LOT of ROCKS in this story...LOL But, KIDDOS really seem to LOVE ROCKS! Blessings, Ronda

Our Christmas Ward Activity this year was a time period themed party based around the birth of Christ... Called A Night In Bethlehem. It was the first time I had ever hosted a party that wasnt 100% my own vision... instead I had heard about and researched it from this web site here. I thought doing it this way would decrease the amount of work on my behalf because I was wanting to reduce the stress this time around for the holidays... yeah I was wrong... VERY WRONG! I have NEVER put this much effort into an activity before. I was there everyday the week of setting up, sometimes twice a day. I dragged my poor kiddos to over half of those set up times. After all of the hard work and planning it turned out great! Here are a few pictures of the evening. Before the crowds! Centurion standing guard Ryan & LivieBug The whole family!
