Lately I have been obsessed with cute, tiny cottages in the forest. I would love to have a place to escape daily living and just relax and read a good book. However, I am kind of a snob so the rustic cabin with no bathroom is just not for me. I want to go to a place that is just as beautiful as the setting it's in. Or better yet, I want to OWN a place like this so I can just go anytime I feel like it! Here are some places that I have been dreaming of: I love this space that is built with re-purposed materials Aww, those shingles! Adorable Or maybe a fairytale cottage. Love that bright yellow door. It must have a picket fence around it. Or maybe something really modern. Just enough space for two! This is a really cool take on a log cabin. And the setting is beautiful! Or maybe a tree house feel? This just looks so mysterious. I would love to spend the weekend camped out in this place. Of course, stone cottages are also drool worthy! I love the european feel of a stone salt box cottage. Now this is just too cute for words. It looks like a tiny playhouse for grown-ups! Ok, so they're are a lot of options for the outside of my tiny cottage. Now let's take a look at some interiors: It is probably going to be tiny so we will need to do some creative space planning like this little cottage. I love the ladder with the sleeping loft. Another great example of maximizing space. But, I do want it to have the country cottage feel. I love this bunk room and the blue quilts. I love all the rustic beams in this little cottage, not to mention the adorable mint green kitchen cabinets. Now who could forget the cutest little cottage of all: Iris' stone cottage from the movie "The Holiday" When I saw this movie, all I could pay attention to was this adorable cottage. I LOVE the tiny bathroom with the stone wall. However, not too practical for us tall folks. The cottage must have a reading nook like this for all the books I am going to be reading since there won't be any TV. The fireplace in the kitchen makes the space sooooo cozy! Maybe someday I will have a special little place like this of my own, but for now, I will just keep dreaming. ~Jessica

I'm excited to introduce you to Dazzle, a new pattern from; Cabin Fever: 20 Modern Log Cabin Quilts. Dazzle is probably the most scrappy quilt in our new book. Even though all the fabric comes from on
The summer after I finished school I set off into the mountains of North Carolina to build a log cabin, armed with a few books, and hand tools, but no experiance or skills. I set up my tent and expected it to take six weeks to build. Six months later I still hadn't finished the chimney or started the roof. But this is what it looked like on a misty November morning a few years later. I lived here for about eight years, and owned it for about fifteen years after I built it in 1976 with local fieldstone and oak logs I cut, peeled and notched on the site, working alone with hand tools. It had no plumbing, I carried water from a nearby spring, and I heated it in winter with about half a cord of wood a week which I cut and burned in the open fireplace. Eventually I moved into Asheville and had to sell it, but it was a large part of my life, and I miss it more with each passing year.

Our brain can be easily compared to a browser with multiple tabs open at once. I think you and I can fairly agree that we both have different goals, daily tasks, ideas, and worries running constantly inside our brain. All…
This isn't about being restless or bored from a prolonged stay in a remote or confined space... this is about being excited about cabins. Specifically - Log Cabins. Not that kind. I'll be more specific - Log Cabin quilts! That's better. Cottage in the Snow (by Andrewsteeleuk)
Toad Hall is composed of five log cabins set in the wooded foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, in Tennessee. At one end of the great room, the open kitchen is a master chef’s kitchen. The pair of French still lifes are 18th century. The oak rack is 19th-century English. The bedroom’s walls and ceiling inspired the high-contrast palette of the furnishings, including the cream bed hangings for the hickory-log four-poster. The porch—“an extension of the great room”—looks out to Tadpole Cottage, left, and another outbuilding called The Writer’s Cottage. The wonderful porch is decorated in the casual vernacular that relates to the architecture of a log cabin. Tadpole Cottage, a two-room pondside folly, is used exclusively by guests. The couple—the visionaries behind the nearby luxury hotel Blackberry Farm—built all the cabins from antique timbers. Do cozy :)
Cabins are very charming, especially during the winter season. They're not as luxurious as a hotel or a large mansion, but there's something special about
When the summer turns hot and humid, I'd rather slumber on a summer sleeping porch than turn the air conditioner on. Here's several pretty sleeping porches!
Log cabin kit homes have come a long way from their humble beginnings. If you haven't looked at this building option in awhile, you may be pleasantly surprised!
