After tearing through the American west, it is a relief to finally take a bit of time to relax in the Alabama Hills. Those familiar with the location are envious. Those who are not familiar probably question what a place called “Alabama Hills” is doing outside of the state of Alabama. But, I assure you, you are familiar with these hills, even if you didn’t already know it.

This image belongs in a space where you can daydream of following a country backroad to majestic mountains. It was a frigid January morning, with highs during the day in the low to mid 40s. Overnight stay felt like camping in a freezer. That’s why I cherished being the passenger inside my SUV with heated seats, while my boyfriend navigated us to back roads south of Lone Pine, California. But when we turned off a backroad and this scene unfolded before us, I knew I had to make a picture of the road that was leading us towards glacier-like mountains of the Eastern Sierras covered in snow,, which produced a strong blue presence (the reason why I titled this "Blue Heights") . You can sense the biting and icy air which do not seem to affect the horses, and the warmth of the small yellow house. While traveling in upstate New York, where I lived for four years, I went to a play just up the road from the house I used to live. After nearly 40 years of being away, so much had stayed the same. The play was being performed in Preble, New York. The theatre was beautiful and the location, breathtaking, which is where this picture came from. The beautiful, lone pine tree by the water was too incredible not to kapture. I hope you enjoy my piece of upstate New York. If you're in the Homer, NY area, check out the Cortland Repertory Theatre. The talent is amazing and the area, as you see, is totally intoxicating. All kaptures have been taken by Alan Kachur and are hand signed on the bottom right corner. Each kapture has been printed using high quality inks and professional-grade premium photo paper to guarantee your kaptures are of the best quality, and you can treasure this and other kaptures for years to come. Please note that any blurred or textured photo effects are intentional. All kaptures and sizes are printed in a matte finish and may take 7-10 business days as they are printed to order. Each kapture is unframed to allow you to create your perfect look. Shipping is included in the price

ARTIST PRINT DESCRIPTION "Located on a stretch of road now bypassed by the highway, this abandoned Esso Station sits with its memories of better times. The sun-bleached building is slowly disappearing into its own shadows while the dust covers all like a shroud."
