In many parts of the world, using public transport can be a more enriching experience for visitors than a guided tour or private car hire – but you may have to sharpen up your hammock-fixing and price negotiation skills

Some pine cones that I got from my Mom's house. I really liked the detail and the simple nature of this shot.
Wow!

The allure of the American West has captivated photographers since the earliest days of the medium. David Maisel's latest book, Black Maps, chronicles more than 25 years of observing the land from a god-like perspective and an obsession with environmental destruction.

One of the things that makes a great designer is the ability to see beauty in unlikely places. And images of urban decay can really put that ability to
A Bible Study by Jack Kelley “I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matt 24:34-35). As you probably know,
Grand Central's abandoned Track 61 with the secret underground train that Franklin Delano Roosevelt used to take to remain incognito while traveling to and from New York City. --- Camera: Sony a99 | Lens: Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm f/2.8 --- And if the clock tower and glass catwalks weren't enough, I also got to see Grand Central's abandoned Track 61 which I was always told was the stuff of urban legend. However, it turns out to be real! When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was in office, he utilized a secret train line that connected Grand Central to the Waldorf-Astoria. The area even has a huge freight elevator that was used to fit his limousine allowing FDR to travel to and from New York City in secrecy during World War II. This was the train he used which still sits on Track 61. --- I had the rare opportunity to get a private tour of Grand Central's unusual and special spots and views today. I got to climb inside Grand Central's huge clock, traverse a secret staircase, see the master control room, walk around with a hard-hat on in the secret underground station that hosted secret service agents and presidents. In short, I am not sure a lot can top this rare New York City experience. I want to thank Grand Central for being so awesome and for providing hours of jaw-dropping New York City thrills for a history buff like me. --- -- View my New York City photography at my website NY Through The Lens.
