A few years ago, I looked at my biochemistry unit and tried to think of some way to revolutionize it. Monomers, polymers, carbohydrates, phosopholipids, amino acids… To my students, these aren’t concrete things. I might as well be speaking Chinese. I decided they needed a hands-on activity to understand that these are things, actual molecules, […]

We are exploring magnets here in kindergarten! We sorted objects between magnetic and not magnetic. I wanted the kids to be able to glue down their sort to display in the hallway. You could use tape or regular glue, but in the interest of time I opted for a glue gun. This SUPER cool temp glue gun (you have to buy special glue sticks but they are not expensive) eliminates the worry over burns! But like I said, tape works too. We have some magnet sorting in our science station

Section 2: Final Intention figure drawing blog You have been creating various figures drawings that will fit into your landscape. You will now be experimenting with various compositional sketches of how you will layer your final product. Scan in your drawing and play with 6 different effects for example see how you could add collage/ ink wash layers to the drawing. If scan your drawing at a low res, you can add the filters on pixlr.com You can also create these effects using the filters on the 2010 version of Powerpoint. For you final intention, you will hand in your six "postcards" and your figure drawings and photographs.
Start with folding paper into 6-8 boxes. Trace hand with pencil. Trace finds with pencil. Outline hand with black permanent marker. Marker line = change color Pencil line = change design * no solid colors * no white, black, or neutral I taught the 6th graders the difference between cool and warm color on the color wheel. I assigned them the task of using a tracing of their hands to fill in with warm or cool colors only. I challenged them to use lines only, but allowed them to use shapes as well as part of their designs. As part of the advice, I had them only get a collection of whatever colors they work working with at one time (a pile of warm only or a pile of cool only) so they do not accidentally grab the wrong color and mess up the lesson goal. 6th grade 2023 Madelynn, Anden, Emilia, Shaylee, Alissa, Olivia Shaunna, Victoria “Jeremiah”, Addison Bella G., Harper, Tatum Sunshine Eduardo-6th grade 2022 Melanie C.- 7th grade 2022 Elva- 6th grad Fall 2021 Kinslee, Kylar, Evy, Adelyn, Kenix & Emily Jazmyn and Kelly Kalie R., Vanessa A., Zane S. & Avery 2021 6-8th grade above, 1st period 2020 Jaylee, Isac, Josie Michael, Francisco and Jorja My teacher examples for the 6th grade... 'Do you think you can fit through this index card?' My daughter looked at me like I was crazy as I asked her this question and held up a 3x5 index card. She emphatically answered no, and was very curious when I told her that I could show her how she could very easily fit through an index card. What followed was one our favorite science experiments for kids as we learned how to make an index card chain. Why this experiment is fun for kids With this science experiment, kids will learn about how physical objects change. As a bonus,
