Foto: (EN) Former seat of the Georgian Transport Ministry... probably the strangest building I've ever seen. (EN) The former Transport Ministry was another good reason to come to Tbilisi. I’ve had seen a photo of it on flickr, but no else information about it, but I supposed it would be quite easy to find once in Tbilisi. It was not. Fortunately, it’s not located in the historical center. Furthermore, nobody could tell me where it is. I asked a lot and finally, a employee in a travel agency on Tavisuplebis Square took some time, phoned around and found out the address and how to get there. It’s not central at all, it required a long metro ride combined with a marshrutka ride afterwards, but it was worth the trip. I can’t tell what it’s used for now, it looks rather run down and disused, however it’s still guarded (the guards denied me the entry). If somebody wants to visit it as well, here’s the address: Maršal Gelovanis Kuča (მარშალ გელოვანის ქუჩა) 7, close to Dighmis Trasa (a more important road). To get there, take the metro until Politehnuri station, from there further on with any marshrutka serving Dighmis Trasa. Another possibility is the bus No. 91 leaving next to Rustavelis metro station which leads to the neighbourhood of that building. (EN) Some other great ugly buildings I've seen during my trips: - Telecommunications Building (Skopje, Macedonia) - National Library (Prishtina, Kosovo) - a monument (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) - Tehnoimport (Bucharest, Romania) - a panel block (Khujand, Tajikistan) (DE) Einige andere grossartig hässliche Gebäude, die ich bisher gesehen habe: - Telekommunikationsgebäude (Skopje, Mazedonien) - Nationalbibliothek (Prishtina, Kosovo) - ein Denkmal (Bischkek, Kirgistan) - Tehnoimport (Bukarest, Rumänien) - ein Plattenbau (Chudschand, Tadschikistan) Andere Reiseberichte / Other travel reports: 2014 Bangladesch (mit Indien und Nepal) / Bangladesh 2014 Spitzbergen / Svalbard 2013 Nordkorea / North Korea 2012 Irak / Iraq 2012 Jugra (Autonomer Bezirk der Chanten und Mansen) / Yugra 2011 Abchasien / Abkhazia 2011 Uganda, Kenia 2011 Ägypten während der Revolution / Egypt during Revolution 2009 Kirgistan / Kyrgyzstan 2009 Kuba / Cuba
