Hedy Lamarr, born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler (November 9, 1914 – January 19, 2000), was an Austrian-born American film actress and inventor who was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. After a brief early film career in Czechoslovakia, including the controversial Ecstasy (1933), she fled from her husband, a wealthy Austrian ammunition manufacturer, and secretly moved to Paris. Traveling to London, she met Louis B. Mayer, head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) studio, who offered her a movie contract in Hollywood. She became a star with her performance in Algiers (1938), her first film made in the United States. Her MGM films include Lady of the Tropics (1939), Boom Town (1940), H.M. Pulham, Esq. (1941), and White Cargo (1942). Her greatest success was as Delilah in Cecil B. DeMille's Samson and Delilah (1949). She also acted on television before the release of her final film, The Female Animal (1958). She was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. At the beginning of World War II, Lamarr and composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes, intended to use frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology to defeat the threat of jamming by the Axis powers. Although the US Navy did not adopt the technology until the 1960s, various spread-spectrum techniques are incorporated into Bluetooth technology and are similar to methods used in legacy versions of Wi-Fi. Recognition of the value of this work resulted in the pair being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014. When framed, these monochrome prints make an attractive addition to any movie lovers decor. Lovingly printed to order on heavyweight gloss 210 g/m2 photo paper using high end printing techniques. All prints shipped securely in hard backed envelopes so as to avoid damage during transit.

Showcasing the planets in orbit, our archival artwork is sure to be a statement piece in your home, office, apartment, dorm, loft, studio, hotel, school or any venue perfect for it. ________________________________________________________________________________ ★ LISTING INFO This listing is for one (1) UNFRAMED black and white archival fine art print with the subtle mottling and fading of the original vintage artwork and the natural appearance of stains, creases, folds, tears, scuffs and aging the print was derived from. Because our archival prints are digitized directly from the original artwork, our prints will depict the vintage appeal and style of decades and centuries-old artifacts. Due to the age of the original artwork, this reproduction map's details may have inaccuracies, misspellings, and mistakes made by the original cartographer when first designed All of our prints that are displayed in frames on our product images are for marketing purposes of our prints only. We market our prints framed so you can see and determine what the final result of a framed print BY YOU may look like. PLEASE NOTE: The smaller the artwork in the size you order, the smaller details/artwork on the print itself. Please keep this in mind when ordering your size. If you have any concerns or questions please reach out to us for more information. All digital watermarks will be removed before printing. ________________________________________________________________________________ ★ MADE IN THE USA Our fine art prints are taken from the most exclusive and mint condition vintage resources and then captured with a Smithsonian grade $50,000 Fine Art Camera. Display this in your home, office, man cave, apartment, dorm, lake house, beach house, hotel, hospital or anywhere that needs a truly stunning piece of art that pays homage to the style you love. In addition, our exquisitely made print showcases the subtle mottling and fading of the original vintage artwork. Why a Fine Art camera vs a scanner to capture our resources? Someone who is turning scanned art into prints with a $700 scanner is losing out on the depth, sharpness, detailing and hard to capture artifacts a $50,000 camera can deliver, therefore, we've made sure to invest in the quality of work we provide so you get what you pay for. ________________________________________________________________________________ ★ MATERIAL We offer this print in three different materials: Giclee Paper, Photo Rag Paper, and Canvas - Choose Giclee paper if you are looking for a straightforward fine art print at an affordable cost. - Choose Photo Rag paper if you are looking for a high-quality, natural material finish that is also the most high-end material and what professionals choose to print their art. - Choose Canvas if you aren't looking to frame your print, but want a gallery wrapped art with 3/4" depth on each of the sides which gives you the framed look of depth on your wall. (More about gallery wrapped canvas and what it is and looks like (http://bit.ly/2iayfGY - PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING) Please note: Extra large gallery wrapped canvas orders will incur freight shipping overage our flat-shipping rate of $3 since these orders cannot be rolled and shipped Please note: Extra shipping charges may be incurred for international canvas orders Please be aware, our Photo Rag and Canvas prints cannot be returned Please be aware, if you live outside the USA, your print, unfortunately, cannot be returned Please be reminded, as already mentioned, this fascimile artwork is derived from a vintage original so there will be natural signs of aging, distressing, creasing, paper folds and other vintage patina that may be depicted on antique art from decades to centuries ago. ________________________________________________________________________________ ✈️ SHIPPING We only charge $3 shipping for this print for orders placed in the USA Your print is mailed in a high quality shipping tube We ship just about anywhere in the world ________________________________________________________________________________ ★ FRAMES NONE of our prints come framed, however, all frames purchased through pictureframes.com/monarch (online framing wholesaler) will get a 25% discount when they use our code: PRO25 We suggest giving pictureframes.com a call and ordering the frame un-assembled, otherwise, you will get hit with an over-sized shipping charge depending on the frame size you order. An early promoter and populariser of Darwin's evolutionary theory, the German biologist and artist Ernst Haeckel was a hugely influential figure of the late 19th century. Bernd Brunner looks at how a trip to Sri Lanka sowed the seeds for not only Haeckel's majestic illustrations from his Art Forms in Nature, for which he is perhaps best known today, but also his disturbing ideas on race and eugenics. Ernst Haeckel and his sixteen steamer trunks arrived at the harbor of Colombo “in the glorious light of a cloudless tropical morning” on November 21, 1881, after a four-week journey via Trieste,

"Going to Market on a Misty Morning," by Constant Troyon (1851) DIMENSIONS • 9" x 12" (Image: 7.5" x 9.5") • 12" x 16" (Image: 10" x 12.5") • 16" x 20" (Image: 13" x 16.31") • 20" x 24" (Image: 16" x 20") • 24" x 30" (Image: 19" x 23.81") Archival Inkjet on Fine Art Paper Smooth Surface - Matte Finish - Inset Borders ART-CENTRIC DESIGN ----------------------------- Vintage art is not standardized. The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. If you’re looking for an artwork that is not in our catalog, feel free to ask if we can provide it. We will print any public domain or openly licensed image that is available in high resolution. MUSEUM QUALITY ----------------------------- Giclée process prints are the gold standard in fine art reproduction. We use a matte finish, cotton fiber paper to maximize detail while eliminating glare. Our prints display a wide color gamut, deep blacks and beautiful tonal transitions. Produced using only archival materials, they will not fade or yellow, but maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. HANDMADE DECLARATION ----------------------------- To assure artistic quality, all of our production and design is strictly in-house. Every print has been proofed, calibrated and inspected for defects. We do not drop ship, resell or make use of third-party production partners. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING ----------------------------- All orders ship within one business day via USPS First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Sizes 9” x 12” and 12” x 16” ship in a flat configuration, unless combined with larger prints, which require tubes. We will replace any lost or damaged items at no expense to you. HAPPINESS GUARANTEE ----------------------------- We will promptly address any issues that may arise with your order. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.
"Studio Party, or Soiree," by Florine Stettheimer (1917-1919) DIMENSIONS • 9" x 12" (Image: 7.5" x 7.81") • 12" x 16" (Image: 10" x 10.5") • 16" x 20" (Image: 13" x 13.63") • 20" x 24" (Image: 16" x 16.75") • 24" x 30" (Image: 19" x 20") Archival Inkjet on Fine Art Paper Smooth Surface - Matte Finish - Inset Borders ABOUT THE ARTWORK Florine Stettheimer defies easy categorization. Growing up in a wealthy family of strong, educated women, she received extensive training in art beginning at age 15. She learned to paint traditionally at the Art Students League in New York from 1892-1895. In 1906 she traveled to Europe with her family, where she encountered the modernists and experimented in a variety of newer styles, including Symbolism, Fauvism and Pointillism. Following a 1912 production of L’Aprés-Midi d’un Faune by the Ballets Russe in Paris, she embarked on an inventive career as a theatrical designer. She returned to New York in 1914. Following an unsuccessful solo exhibition in 1916, she developed a uniquely feminine, faux naïf style, characterized by elongated figures, stage-like settings and bold, unmixed color. These mature works, beloved for their idiosyncratic subjects and eccentric humor, reflect her experiences and observations of fashionable urban life in Jazz Age America. Her financial independence allowed her to shun the art market, but at the expense of publicity for her work. From the 1920s to early 40s she hosted salons for New York’s avant-garde. "Studio Party, or Soiree" is a window into one of these events. Seated at center, art critic Leo Stein has removed his hearing aid in apparent disdain for Jazz Age playwright James Avery Hopwood. At top left are tenor Maurice Stern, sister Ettie Stettheimer, and Isabell Lachaise, wife of Gaston, who appears at bottom left, scrutinizing a fresh canvas with Albert Gleizes. As the poet Sankar sits nervously with his back to the prominently displayed nude, Juliette Gleizes, sharing a sofa with the artist, gapes in realization that the provocative painting is, in fact, her hostess’s self-portrait. The first of its kind painted by a female artist, few of Stettheimer’s guests seem to have been comfortable acknowledging it.
