This post probably contains affiliate links. You can read our full disclosure policy here. It’s that time of the year again. The time for making wishes, believing in miracles, being good, celebrating life and cozying up with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire while watching the snow fall down. Ahhhh….In other words, it’s the most hyggeligt time of the year. Huh? What’s that word again? What’s hygge? Well, if you’ve stumbled upon this post you probably already have an idea of what hygge is. But in case you’ve been living in a strange part of the internet and this is the first time you come across this word, let me share some light on this awesome concept. Hygge (pronounced hue-ga) is the Danish concept of happy living, that took the world by storm several years ago. It is roughly translated as coziness in English but it is so much more than just that. Although it is a huge trend in everything from home décor, to fashion and lifestyle in general, hygge is a feeling above all else – on my opinion, the most wonderful feeling there is. When you come home and leave all the hustle outside – that’s hygge; when you’re surrounded by your friends and you’re laughing, drinking and talking about anything and everything – that’s hygge; when you’re curled up on the couch under a soft blanket and you’re submerged entirely in a good book – that’s hygge; when you taste that first sip of coffee in the morning and you feel the world awakening in you and all the colors coming to life – that’s hygge. Hygge is the feeling of coziness, comfort, togetherness, peace of mind…quiet and warm happiness. This sounds pretty universal, right, so why is it that the Danes have taken ownership of the idea? Because they found the secret ingredient that has turned them in, objectively, the happiest nation on Earth. They do hygge intentionally, on purpose, wholly aware of it and entirely present in those hygge moments. Neat, huh? So why not learn from them and create some hygge moments for us and the people we love this season? You can feel hygge all year round, but there’s no doubt about it that winter and especially Christmas time is the most hyggelig time. There’s just something about the season (hmm….probably the freezing temperatures) that makes you constantly think of cozying up inside with good friends, good book or good wine (or all of the above). Hygge is all about appreciating the little things in life so stuffing the Christmas stockings with some hygge makes perfect sense, right? Right?! Here are my 25 hygge stocking stuffers ideas that will be perfect for lighting some soft and warm hygge fire in the hearts of our friends and loved ones. 1. Tea Yeah, hot sips of anything delicious are a hygge must have! And this gourmet tea sampler set is just perfect for stuffing stockings as each tea comes beautifully wrapped in an individual satchel and neatly tucked into a small black box. 2. Gourmet coffee Coffee is so essentially hygge for me that I can’t imagine a happy life without it. It just helps appreciate everything more….and faster 😉 I know there are tons of coffee lovers like me out there so if you have one or more of them on your list this gourmet coffee sampler set will make a perfect stocking stuffer. There are flavors here that are not your everyday choice so it will be something tasty and unexpected that will surely put a smile on their faces. 3. Hot chocolate on sticks These hot chocolates on sticks are just adorable! Let your loved ones indulge in a sweet, delicious, high quality cup of hot chocolate by placing one of those in their stocking this Christmas. 4. Handwarmer mug I think this mug is so hygge that you simply can’t go wrong with it- it is ceramic, gorgeous, unique, comes in lefthanded and righthanded variations and it is specifically designed to warm your hands! I ordered one as soon as I saw them and can’t wait to pour my morning coffee in it! Amazing stocking stuffer! 5. Coffee mug cozy If you know your stocking receiver already has a favorite mug and there’s just no room in his or her heart for a new one, you can get him/her a coffee mug cozy. Those are super cute, will protect their hands from the extreme heat of the mug and will look so cozy that they won’t even realize how the hygge feeling crept into their heart. 6. Cozy dozy warm spoons Those stamped stainless steel spoons are so cute and absolutely hygge. It just puts a smile on your face as soon as you grab it in the morning and will definitely help turning drinking your morning coffee into a special hygge ritual. 7. Homemade jams Who doesn’t love homemade jams? They are soooo much better than most thingс you can buy from the store and they make amazing hygge stocking stuffers, because their recipient will know how much love and care are put into making those. You can pour them in little jars like these – they even come with cute chalkboard labels and will make your homemade jams even more special. 8. High quality little jams In case you’re not into making jams yourself, these are the next best thing. Those amish made jams are delicious, pretty looking and when in a sampler set – the perfect size for a stocking stuffer. 9. Shower steamer Having some relaxation time is a must for a hygge life and those shower steamer samplers are perfect for those days when there’s just not enough time for a proper bath. Just pop one in the bottom of your shower and feel the power of essential oils and aromatherapy melting your stress and fatigue away. 10. Botanical soap These soaps will take the home spa experience to a whole new level. The seasonal smells will definitely get your stocking stuffer receiver in a holiday mood and will turn their morning or evening shower in a special aroma-therapeutic hygge ritual. Plus, those mini soaps from the sampler set are individually wrapped in beautiful packages – just perfect for stocking stuffing. 11. Candle Hygge is almost unthinkable without candles. Don’t believe me? Try searching for hygge on Pinterest and tell me if you found a picture without candles on it. There’s just something about them that makes every room feel instantly cozier. And those two are precious and smell so delicious that I doubt that there will be anyone who doesn’t fall in love with them instantaneously. Perfect hygge stocking stuffer. 12. Cookie cutters Give your friends another excuse for making delicious Christmas cookies by putting some cookies cutters in their stocking. You can try some unusual shapes that will add an element of surprise to your stocking stuffer and will make the holiday even more fun. 13. Fairy lights with clips for photos Fairy lights are also pure hygge magic. They are festive no matter the season and are able to create a hygge atmosphere in seconds. And what’s better than your ordinary fairy lights? Fairy lights with clips for photos! Those little clear plastic clips make them even more hygge because you not only get the warm glow of the fairy lights, but also a chance to display your happiest coziest moments with the people you hold dearest. If you want to make this stocking stuffer even more hygge – print out a few photos with you and the person you are gifting it to and add them to the fairy lights. 14. Photobook This one is pretty special. Just imagine finding in your stocking a little, beautifully designed hardcover book, containing some of your happiest memories of the year or of a cherished friendship. I don’t know about you, but it will surely bring happy and thankful tears to my eyes. 15. Ornaments Adding a few new ornaments to our Christmas decorations is one of my favorite holiday traditions. And they make amazing stocking stuffers, especially if you make them yourselves or find ones that correspond to the personality of the person you are gifting them to. Is he a bookworm or a passionate traveler, is she into fantasy or board games, or maybe a skilled knitter? You can find a unique ornament that will surely put a smile on their face and remind them of you every time they look at it. 16. Pocket notebook Writing is one of the things that are considered fundamentally hygge. Maybe that is because putting your thoughts down to paper is proved to help relieve stress, build confidence, clear your mind, set your goals and ultimately, be more intentional in your actions – and these are all inseparable parts of a hygge lifestyle. So a pocket notebook or a pocket journal will make a perfect hygge stocking stuffer, cause they will encourage more writing and plus, this one with its classic vintage look is so gorgeous, I would honestly feel cozier just holding it in my hand. 17. Christmas poems pocket book We covered writing, now lets get to reading – an indispensable part of the day of every hygge enthusiast. And there are few reading choices better than a beautiful pocket sized book of Christmas poems that can go anywhere with you, will keep your Christmas spirit at the appropriate levels and can also be a nice addition to the holiday decorations if you choose to display it. Awesome hygge stocking stuffer! 18. Bookmarks by MirkwoodScribes Pair those magical-looking bookmarks with a nice Christmas book or give them as they are. They are winter themed, breathtakingly beautiful and will be a cherished hygge accessory to every read your stocking receiver picks up this season. 19. Indulge their hobby enthusiasm Spending some quality leisure time doing what you like is essential to a hygge lifestyle. And the Christmas stockings are a perfect way to show your loved ones that you take interest and value their creative choices by stuffing them (the stockings 😉 ) with supplies or other means of exercising their favorite leisure activity. This may mean a book of patterns if they are into sewing or crocheting, a gift card for a mini course or a lesson, crafting supplies….practically anything goes, as long as it relates to their hobby. 20. Pocket board game And speaking of hygge ways to spend your free time, here’s another awesome idea for a hygge stocking – a pocket sized board game. Those are ideal for traveling, or even for waiting outside the doctor’s office – any time can be transformed into a hygge escape with the right portable board game and a willing company 😉 21. A little box of…. Support their holiday spirit with a little box of kindness or a little box of creativity. These cute little boxes will help your stocking receiver dive fully into the spirit of the holiday and maybe do more things that make him or her feel more hygge and inspired. 22. Gloves A nice pair of well made, cozy and warm gloves will make a very hygge addition to your stocking stuffers. Those have a simplistic design, they are warm and smartphone friendly 🙂 23. Socks for him or for her Socks don’t have to be the boring mundane Christmas gift. Choose a pair with high quality and beautiful design or something more fun that will make your friend feel cozy and in a great holiday mood.
