(about 2 weeks) Covers approx. 400 sq ft gallon, 100 sq ft per quart and 50 sq ft per pint. Directions Apply with a dry, clean cotton cloth or brush over your milk painted, stained or raw wood project. Let sit for 5-10 minutes then wipe off excess. Build up coats for a more water resistant and durable finish (allow 2-3 hours between coats). Tung Oil will dry to the touch in a day or so and will reach its final hardness after a 2 week curing time. Tung Oil can be thinned with mineral spirits or a citrus solvent to make it easier to apply, penetrate and dry faster (or get our Tung Oil Blend here!). Thin with a 1:1 ratio. Clean up with hot water and dish soap. Re-apply when surface starts to look dry. Pure Tung Oil is not combustible, but if you use a solvent to thin, please make sure to properly dispose of rags to prevent combustion. *Reminder: Tung Oils that have been blended/cut are an oil based product which can spontaneously combust if under the right conditions. Remember to dispose of all rags that you have used any oil based (stain included) product on in a metal container with a lid (you can buy them on amazon or grab one at any auto/hardware supply store). This is especially true if your in a hotter climate and rags are left bunched up. Sadly lots of house fires are caused from people just throwing oil and stain rags in the trash can. But this is easily preventable! There are some more disposing techniques and you can google them to see what will work best for you.**

This is an art piece and not food safe. Tung oil finish. My artistic philosophy is to utilize wood that is destined for the dump. I will explore yard waste recycling facilities for local hardwoods that have been downed by storms or in the building of homes. I hope to keep this wood from ending up in the wood chipper to become mulch. Instead, I find the beauty hiding within the logs and branches and get inspired by what the wood wants to be. It is the nature of this art form to allow the wood to dictate the final piece. It will guide the turner into a certain shape based on the markings and patterns of the wood. It is a peaceful endeavor to find hard wood and bring them to you in the form of turned wood art pieces. I am an oncology nurse by day and use wood turning to unwind and be creative.
