Brides put in a lot of effort to look stunning on this important day: trying on a bunch of dresses, doing test hairstyles and makeup, and getting up as early as possible on their wedding day. And all of these worries about their look don’t just concern modern girls. Our grannies also did their best to knock everyone’s socks off with their beauty. Fortunately, they had a tradition of wedding photo shoots as well, thanks to which we can see at their looks today.

Thought I would share this with you. We visit Rye regularly to shop in the many second-hand shops, antique shops and bric-a brac stores. The wife buys a few things occasionally and I take a few pictures but primarily we go there for the 'Cream Tea' we enjoy in any of the dozen or more pubs and cafes that cater for the many visitors. Sat there in the chair she reminded me of poor Miss Havisham from Dickens' 'Great Expectations' who having been jilted at the altar spent the rest of her life in her wedding dress only to go up in smoke when the house caught fire many years later.

Jökulsárlón, Iceland Finally I got shots of Aurora at Jökulsárlón that I allways wanted. This glacier lagoon is one of my favourite places to photograph in Iceland and getting a shot here with Aurora has been on the top of my "things to photograph" list for a long time. I didn´t however get the shot until the last day of our 5 day Easter trip. Jökulsárlón was formed when the large Breiðarmerkurjökull glacier retreated in the later part of the 20th century revealing a deep valley filled with water it had carved in over the centuries. When Iceland first was inhabited in the 9th and 10th century the glacier was much smaller than it is now. It wasn´t until during the "little ice age" starting in the 14th or 15th century that the glacier began advancing again. It advanced far enough to even engulfed farms that are first now 500 years later coming from under the ice again. The glacier reached it peak length in the start of the 20th century where it was only 200-300 meters from the coast. It has since retreated more than 10km forming a huge lake, in fact the deepest lake in Iceland more than 200m deep. It is predicted that in not so far future the lake will also become Iceland's biggest lake.

Terme Del C. This used to be a big Spa. Started in the beginning of the 20th century. Also during the second world war the activity continued. In the middle of the 20th century it was destroyed by a big fire and was rebuild again. When it was left abandoned i do not know. But since the 21th century it's owned by a investor which was planning to build appartments on the grounds. Due to the fact that it is a monument now, the place still exists. Visited this location during our Italy trip in May 2013

Maple - turned and carved; 9 X 7 Probably the most challenging piece I've ever done. Carving the interior space was a pain in the ***, not to mention my hand - especially after my finger surgery. I entered this for consideration for the Maple Medley exhibit. The wording on the entry form was a bit worrying to me because it seemed as if they were looking for mostly turned forms, but we'll see what happens. This started out as a hollow form 10 X 7.5 inches with 1.5 inch walls. Photo by Jerry Anthony Photography Comments are welcome.

This totally insane room is in the Opera, and is definitely a fine example of overendulgance. Not to mention a lot of time spent by many people to make the freaking thing.
