The sun is rising at the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of the Saxon Switzerland. The Elbe Sandstone Mountains are located in the border region between Germany and the Czech Republic, referred to the Saxon Switzerland in the German, and Bohemian Switzerland in the czech side. Both are declared national parks. The mountain range is the cause of a large sediment of sandstone created during the Cretaceus, which has been later laid free and thus became victim of erosion processes, mostly by the river Elbe. This picture was taken in the morning at 7:19. For a view of a nearby place at earlier times, see here for 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30. Also, see Sandstone Christmas on how it like with snow. This picture was taken with the Nikkor 16-85 f/3.5-5.6, at 16 mm, ISO 200 and f8 aperture. It actually is a HDR made out of 9 single exposures, to get the high contrast between the bright sky and the parts of the landscape still lying in the morning shadow under control. This picture is featured in an Apogee Photo Magazine article about HDR pictures. Thank you! #289 on Explore on May 2, 2009. To begin with, I want to say that “there is no such thing as a ‘generic’ Jewish wedding — no matter what the rabbi tells you, no matter what your mother tells you, and no matter what the caterer tells you”. That’s not my quote, that’s Anita Diamant’s, from her wonderful book, The New Jewish Wedding. And […]

Come take a look at some things I find most wonderful!! Lovely! Forgotten beauty! From the hydrangeas to the shutters...this is a beautiful outdoor entertainment area. A hot air balloon ride over the Château de Chenonceau, France. What a treat! A perfect place to be alone, or have a secret rendezvous! I love everything about this room. I feel like an imprisoned queen....with a great view! Two views of a bedroom that I adore. I love interesting wall treatments and this one is particularly lovely. Mirrors in the jardin. I love the idea! We should use mirrors outdoors more. Lovely chandelier! A beautiful room in a French chateau. The Washhouses of Pontrieux in Brittany, France (by Yann Le Biannic). I love harlequin floors! This one in an old chateau is beautiful even with it's missing pieces. I think this is a lovely bedroom. The lavender coverlet is sumptuous! And the architectural element behind the bed...well need I say more? Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. View of a garden through Gothic arches. Please visit again!!
Archaeological artifacts have been found in some parts of the town, indicate that the area was inhabited since the Stone Age. Documented evidence can be the place in Dresden 1206 in 'Acta sunt Dresdene'. There is no documentation regarding the award of city status in Dresden. Maybe they were given by William I in December 1403rd From 1485 Dresden was the ducal town residence of the Saxon sovereign. After the great fire in 1685 Dresden was rebuilt over the next few decades and 1732 as a 'new royal city' completed. Cultural significance Dresden gained under Friedrich August I, who is also known under the name of Augustus the Strong. 1918 Dresden became the capital of the Free State of Saxony. Since 1990, the badly damaged City in world war II and strong neglected innner city during GDR regime with his historic building, is rebuild again. Among other things, the Frauenkirche, which was reopened in October 2005 and consecrated. Johannes Heribert Pohl
