Have a fun ward activity or youth night by playing the Mormon Family Feud. Here are the answers to the Mormon Family Feud Questionnaire so you can put together your own game for a spirited and fun Mormon activity night. Every since posting the Mormon Family Feud Questionnaire a few months ago, I've been getting emails and requests for the answers. I'll be honest, I've been pretty anxious and excited to see what the results of the questionnaire are too. I finally found a quiet evening this week to go through the answers and tally them up. I haven't had time to actually organize and figure out exactly how I'm going to use them yet, although I do have ideas and will probably start putting the game together during the next quiet time I can find. But in the meantime, since some of you are having this activity sooner than I am, I wanted to share the Mormon Family Feud Questionnaire answers. I have included all the answers that had at least two of the same responses. I didn't disqualify them if they weren't a correct answer to the question (but I probably will during the game), so you can decide how you want to handle that in the meantime. I am not sure when I will actually post the game itself, I may post it next month when I can and then post a final round up after we actually play the game with all my ideas, hints and tips. So if you are wanting to try and have this activity after the new year, you can stay tuned for that post. In the meantime, here are the answers (and here is a printable version if you want it): 1. a Fun, Back-To-School Activity! Where in the World Is Wyatt? is a set of 28 Task Cards that can be used for a fun, creative detective game about capital cities around the world. Wyatt is hiding and your students play detective and try to find him by eliminating capital cities using clues on Task Cards. The clues present your students with fascinating facts so they learn about the various capital cities as they search for Wyatt. Encourage the use of reference materials and maps in solving the clues. DIRECTIONS • Students read each Task Card and eliminate one capital city based on the clue. • They record their answer for each Task Card on the Student’s Answer Sheet by writing the name of the city where Wyatt is NOT located. • Then they look at the Student’s Checklist and find the answer, or capital city, to be eliminated. The cities are listed in alphabetical order. They place an (X) on the line to eliminate the capital city where Wyatt is NOT hiding. • After all 28 Task Cards have been completed, only one capital city should be left unmarked – Wyatt’s location! Ever seen the television show "Chopped"? My students love to watch it and have been bugging me to let them compete in our class. However, with large classes, short bells, and limited budget, it was proving to be a bit difficult. However, I think I have figured out a good way to go about it. I think it's a great and of the year project as well, because it helps get rid of extra food in a good way.Read more →
Young women activity ideas for class activities or combined mutual activities. Cheap, fun, and easy activities to put together.
Below you will find everything you need to put on a Battle of the Sexes Combined Youth Activity... It was our turn as a Beehive class to plan the combined youth activity and our theme for the month, was Divine Nature. So, we thought, why not play a friendly game of Battle of the Sexes LDS Youth Style!! Here's what we did... Before hand, print off the Question Cards, Challenge Cards, Headers, and gather your supplies. (Printables can be found near the bottom of the page, by clicking the Click Here Download button) How the game is played... Purpose of the activity: To help the youth understand that each of God’s children have a Divine Nature, that man and women were created in the image of God and each are vital to His plan. Ending goal, is although different from each other, we can compliment each other and work as a partnership to each reach our Divine Destiny. Begin with spiritual message: In the Family a Proclamation to the World it states, “ALL HUMAN BEINGS—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.” Today we are going to play a little Battle of the Sexes game to test what you know about the opposite sex and some skills that will help us reach our divine destiny. Split into Young Women vs. Young Men groups. On the board write YW on one side of the board and YM on the other side of the board. In the middle place the Question cards and Challenge cards with number side up. Explain the game: The purpose of the game is to test what you know about the opposite sex! Question cards and Challenge Cards each worth 10 points. Questions Cards: If you choose a question card you will be given a question either about personal progress or duty to god or the roles stated in the Family Proclamation. One team will be asked a question at a time. You will be given 30 seconds to answer the question. If you get the question correct you get 10 points. If you answer the question incorrectly the other team has the opportunity to answer the question correctly for 5 points. (Answers to the questions can be found by clicking the Free PDF click here button down towards the bottom of the page) Challenge Cards: If you choose a challenge card then you will be given a minute to complete a task. Whichever team completes the task first in the minute will receive 10 points. To Play the Game: Choose which team will be the first to pick a card. Have that team pick a card, it can be either a challenge card or a question card. If it is a question card then each team has 30 seconds to answer their question. Each team will be asked a question, one at a time and be given their allotted 30 seconds to answer. No phones may be used in the game, this is just off of what is in their head. For example the YM will be asked their question and given 30 sec to answer. After they have answered and if they answered correctly. Then the YW will be asked their question and given 30 sec. If they answer their question correctly then they will receive 10 points. If they answer incorrectly than the other team can answer it for 5 points if they answer correctly (they will be given 30 sec to answer.). If they choose a challenge card, then each team will choose one Young Women and one Young Man to come up. (Once you are chosen to come up you can not be chosen to come up again) The challenge is then read to both the young man and young women and they are given 1 minute to complete the task. Whoever completes the task first in the minute will receive the 10 points. If no one completes the task then, no points are awarded. If they tie, then both teams receive the points. Close the activity, by explaining that we are each divinely created by a loving Heavenly Father. Men and women are both essential to His plan and that we can complement each other and work together to reach our divine potential and destiny. Share your testimony and close with a prayer. Refreshments, we just had some good old chocolate chip cookies! Challenges: (See the Challenge Cards in the printable for more information) A Young Man and a Young Women will receive a plate, chopsticks and 12 tic tacs. A Young Man and a Young Woman will receive two hearts each. They will need to place one heart down, step on it, place the other heart down, step on it and pick the other heart up and place it down in front of them and so on, until the reach the finish line. A Young Man and a Young Woman will each receive 12 cups to stack, they can stack them how ever they would like, the goal is to have the highest cup tower. Give a Young man and a Young woman a doll. They will need to fully dress the doll, to receive the points, even the shoes one and buttons done up ;) A Young Man and a Young Woman will each receive a cup, a straw and 40 marshmallows each. A Young Man and a Young Woman will receive a toy car and a straw. We raced on the table, first to the end of the table won. If the car went off the table before the finish they had to go back to start. A Young Man and a Young Woman received a container, place 5 feet away from them and 7 plastic golf balls or ping pong balls. A Young Man and a Young Women each had to place a cookie on their forehead and try to get it into their mouths with out using their hands. Every year for our Seminary Christmas party I like to have a game day. This year we did Minute to Win it Book of Mormon Games. It was a lot of fun. I'll share with you the games that we came up with. \ 1 Nephi 16:6 6 Now, all these things were said and done as my father dwelt in a tent in the valley which he called Lemuel. Give each team a sheet to make a tent. They can use anything in the room to help build their tent. They have one minute to build their tent. The team that can convince a judge that theirs is the best tent wins. 1 Nephi 4:19 19 And after I had smitten off his head with his own sword, I took the garments of Laban and put them upon mine own body; yea, even every whit; and I did gird on his armor about my loins. Give each team a roll of aluminum foil to create Laban's armor. The team with the best armor wins. 1 Nephi 16:10 10 And it came to pass that as my father arose in the morning, and went forth to the tent door, to his great astonishment he beheld upon the ground a round ball of curious workmanship; and it was of fine brass. And within the ball were two spindles; and the one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness. Each team hid the opposite team's liahona while a team member from each team went outside the room. When the team member came into the room the team yelled hot or cold to help their team member find their liahona. Both teams played at the same time, so the team member had to hear the voices from his own team. The first team to find the Liahona won. 1 Nephi 16:16 16 And we did follow the directions of the ball, which led us in the more fertile parts of the wilderness. Each team gets a gold Liahona (Christmas ornament) and has a team member push it with their nose from the starting line to the finish line. The first team member to finish wins. 1 Nephi 16:23 23 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make out of wood a bow, and out of a straight stick, an arrow; wherefore, I did arm myself with a bow and an arrow, with a sling and with stones. And I said unto my father: Whither shall I go to obtain food? Each team got a bow that was not strung. They had to string their bow and then shoot an arrow at a picture of a desert goat. The first team to hit the goat won. Here's a picture of the goat that I used. 1 Nephi 17:8 8 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters. Each team has a member make a paper boat. Once they are done they have to blow their boat across the table with a straw. The first team to the other side wins. Jacob 5:68 68 And the branches of the natural tree will I graft into the natural branches of the tree; and thus will I bring them together again, that they shall bring forth the natural fruit, and they shall be one. Spread out 24 candy canes around the room. A member from each team has to pick up 12 candy canes (branches of Israel) with their mouth and bring them back to the Olive tree. Here is a copy of the tree printout: Words of Mormon 1:13 13 And it came to pass also that the armies of the Lamanites came down out of the land of Nephi, to battle against his people. But behold, king Benjamin gathered together his armies, and he did stand against them; and he did fight with the strength of his own arm, with the sword of Laban. Spread cups on the ground to be the Lamanites. Give each team a sword to gather up cups (Lamanites). The team with the most cups wins. Mosiah 2:8 8 And it came to pass that he began to speak to his people from the tower; and they could not all hear his words because of the greatness of the multitude; therefore he caused that the words which he spake should be written and sent forth among those that were not under the sound of his voice, that they might also receive his words. Each team has to write down Doctrinal Mastery 2:17. The team that is done first wins. Mosiah 27:18 18 And now Alma and those that were with him fell again to the earth, for great was their astonishment; for with their own eyes they had beheld an angel of the Lord; and his voice was as thunder, which shook the earth; and they knew that there was nothing save the power of God that could shake the earth and cause it to tremble as though it would part asunder. Spread marshmallows on the table. Each team is given a straw and a bowl. They are to suck up as many marshmallows as they can. The team with the most marshmallows wins. Alma 17:34 37 But behold, every man that lifted his club to smite Ammon, he smote off their arms with his sword; for he did withstand their blows by smiting their arms with the edge of his sword, insomuch that they began to be astonished, and began to flee before him; yea, and they were not few in number; and he caused them to flee by the strength of his arm. Spread the arms on the ground. Give each team a sword. The team that picks up the most arms with the sword (without using hands) wins. Here's a printout for the arms. Print them out on cardstock. Helaman 16:2 2 But as many as there were who did not believe in the words of Samuel were angry with him; and they cast stones at him upon the wall, and also many shot arrows at him as he stood upon the wall; but the Spirit of the Lord was with him, insomuch that they could not hit him with their stones neither with their arrows. Each team picks a person to represent Samuel the Lamanite. The team member stands in front of the opposite team. Each team throws marshmallows at the other team's Samuel. The Samuel that can dodge the most marshmallows wins. Ether 1:33 33 Which Jared came forth with his brother and their families, with some others and their families, from the great tower, at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people, and swore in his wrath that they should be scattered upon all the face of the earth; and according to the word of the Lord the people were scattered. Each team is given a bunch of plastic cups. The team that can stack their cups the highest wins. Ether 2:17 17 And they were built after a manner that they were exceedingly tight, even that they would hold water like unto a dish; and the bottom thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the sides thereof were tight like unto a dish; and the ends thereof were peaked; and the top thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the length thereof was the length of a tree; and the door thereof, when it was shut, was tight like unto a dish. Each team is given two plastic bowls with some duct tape. They are to tape their bowls together so that they are tight. Then each team has to spin their barge across the finish line. The team to cross the finish line first with a tight barge wins. It's always fun to give trophies to the winning team. Here is an idea that I have used in the past. I have updated the printout to say Book of Mormon. The printout is below. I printed it on gold cardstock that I bought at Walmart. Just click on the picture to make it large. Right click and save it into your pictures or copy and paste it into your printing program. This year I actually did not do the trophies. Instead I made them all Lehi's Luscious Liahonas. Click here to see how to make them. I love to do Minute to Win It Games. Here are some of my other games that you might like: Here is another fun game to play called Scripture Man
