Six months after I myself graduated college, I wrote a post giving my advice to new grads. I essentially said 'the thing you do right after you graduate is not as important to Your Future as you think it is'. Not bad, but I've had a few years now to contemplate what advice I would share with those graduating high school and college in the near future: A four year degree is not always the answer When I was 18, I was under the impression that a four year degree was my only option. But degrees from four year universities are not

This post has been sponsored by the PRIMP Network. All opinions are my own. I always love sharing my goals with you each month, but as always, I love to jazz them up a bit and give you as much jam-packed goodness as I can! Today, I thought it would be fun to share with you some products I'm loving lately--everything from beauty products to self-care essentials. Then of course, I'm sharing a recap of my April goals and my new goals as we head into May. IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Serum // This is the most hydrating lip serum ever! I've been using it almost every day and my lips have been so smooth! It's also infused with pure color pigments that flush to the perfect pink color for your lips. It's your fool proof perfect pink! I usually wear it alone with a simple makeup look, but you can also use it to layer under other lip products as well! Pamprin Multi-Symptom // Ladies, this product is a life saver. Pamprin is truly my sidekick during that time of the month. Not to give you TMI, but I usually have the worst cramps ever and all I want to do is lay in bed all day long. For the past few months, I've been taking Pamprin Multi-Symptom to help treat my cramps and also help fight bloating and irritability. Personally, I have noticed a dramatic difference in the severity of my cramps and symptoms. Its three active ingredients are the perfect trio to make life a little less miserable during that time. It has an antihistamine to relieve irritability, a diuretic to fight against bloating and water weight gain, and a pain reliever to alleviate cramps. PMS is the worst, so why not make life a little better? You can grab Pamprin Multi-Symptom for yourself at your local Walmart or shop online here! My skin always feels so good after I use it. It helps to firm and strengthen your skin and it also gives your skin a radiant glow. It's oil-free & fragrance-free, and it helps your skin boost its natural collagen & elastin production for a little face lift. It's basically a face lift in a jar! Pin Me For Later! Tassel Earrings // Tassel earrings have been my jam lately. I can't pick just a few that I love, so I linked the whole tassel earrings section from Target, but honestly, can I just have one of each, please?! Chris and I were shopping the other day and we walked past the Sugar Fix section and I gasped because they were so freakin' cute! When your husband stops and picks out a pair and is like, "these are so you", you obviously have a love obsession with tassel earrings. PMD Clean // I can't give you too much information on this product (hint: I have a whole blog post on it coming super soon!), but I've been obsessing over it. It helps to give my skin a deep clean and help break down dirt and oils on my skin. It also helps remove makeup that I had no idea was even there! I've been using it everyday for a little over three weeks now and my skin is definitely improving. I'll have a full review along with some other PMD products in just a couple of weeks. 😊 Have you used any of these products before?! Now it's time to talk goals! I have a lot going on in the next seven weeks as we prepare for our move, but I have a business to run, so sticking to my goals is still extremely important. April Goals Recap // Personal Goals One // Purge our apartment You guys! It's felt so amazing to purge my our apartment. We've gotten rid of bags upon bags of trash, clutter, and things we simply don't need anymore. This weekend I had a few people come over and go through the clothes I'm giving away and I have some more peeps coming over later this week! Related Reading: Life Update // We're Moving! Two // Take better care of my body Okay, I'm terrible at this. However, I did start eating healthier...but working out. That's another story. I walked to the kitchen from my living room...all 10 feet. That totally does not count, does it? Three // Establish better work hours I'm starting to get better with this. I haven't been working as much on the weekends, but at night, I'm still finding myself posting a picture, finishing up writing a post, or editing a post with my editor aka. my Mama. I really need to wake up earlier...that's my whole problem. Blogging Goals One // Pitch a minimum of two brands per week Check. Check. Check!! 🙌 Y'all I have some really amazing content coming with brands I've partnered with. I cannot wait to share it all with you!! Two // Be more active on Pinterest I was definitely less active on Pinterest this month, and my pageviews suffered because of it. Definitely learned a lesson this month...never again will I let that happen. Three // Respond quicker to comments & questions I've been getting better, but I can still improve. Responding to quick questions and comments on Instagram is easy, but I seriously need to get my butt into gear and respond to the hundreds of comments on my blog that I have yet to respond to. I feel a comment day coming soon. Pin Me For Later! May Goals // Personal // One // Leave the house more than once a week Yep, you read that right. I literally only leave my house for church on Sunday's and sometimes for worship practice on Thursday's. My mindset is always, why waste makeup and a good outfit if I'm not going anywhere...or seeing anyone. Well friends, I need your help with this one. I literally need y'all to force me to leave my house haha! Two // Wake up and start my day by 9 AM I'm a night owl and I get super creative at night--which is when I write a lot, but it also means that I sleep the day away. It's totally not good for my physical health, but most of all, my mental health. Honestly, I need to get a life outside of work and home. Three // Have a date night with my hubby We just celebrated our one year anni on the 22nd of April! It's so, so important to keep going on dates & adventures, so I want to plan something fun to do, especially since it's been so nice out! Related Reading: Five Lessons we Learned During our First Year of Marriage Blogging // One // Sell 20 copies of my e-book In case ya missed it, I launched my e-book: A Guide to Genuinely Grow on Instagram two weeks ago! So many of you have already picked it up and I am so, so thankful. I hope that it's bringing you the growth that you deserve. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, click here! My goal is to sell 20 copies of my e-book this month, because if I hit this goal, then I'm treating myself to a haircut, balayage touch up, and manicure! Ya girl needs a spa day! Two // Shoot more style content on the weekends Now that it's super nice out, I can take more style content. My goal is to shoot 1-2 outfits each weekend so that I can bring you more of the style content that you want! What outfits/style are you hoping to see on the blog? What are some of your goals this month?
As a passionate photographer and digital artist, I have always dreamed of creating an income by doing what I love. When I started to understand the power of social media, I grew a community of over 30.000, which helped me make my dream of doing it full-time come true.
The secret to discovery is to never believe existing facts.
The real world is hard. I could try to be nicer about this, but that’s the truth of it at the end of the day. I’ve only been in it for about a month at this point (a month travelling after finishing university definitely does not count), and I feel like I’m already losing the plot. I’m not saying a university was a walk in the park either – mountains of reading and the stress of deadlines isn’t exactly what I call “fun” – but we had the luxury of more free time in our student years than we will probably ever have in our lives again. I certainly didn’t love university, but that’s one aspect of it I’m missing already! (source) So my question now, for all my fellow graduates, is what do we do now? How are the rest of you dealing with all the many, many things we have to face out in the real world? Because I for one, have no clue what to do next. Getting a job is the obvious option, but we all know that’s a hell of a lot easier said than done, given the current state of the job market. I guess some of you know exactly what you want to do with your lives, so you can start climbing the career ladder. But what about those of you who are like me, who still haven’t figured that out yet? What are you doing next? I’ve come across a lot who are “taking a break”, doing casual work until they decide on their next move. I guess this sounds like a good idea – better than living at home doing nothing at least – I’m just scared of getting stuck doing that. And it’s not like finding a job is the only thing we have to face. Does anyone know how to deal with the other real world stuff? I don’t even know how to arrange my own bills, I always either had them included or my flatmate dealt with it! And how does council tax work? When do I have to start paying off my student loan? What do I need if I want to work abroad? Am I going to have to remind myself how to drive soon? Do I have to start taking out a million types of insurance? And what the hell is a mortgage?! I’m hoping I’m not the only one feeling a little overwhelmed by stuff like this – and it’s not like I have to deal with all of that immediately either of course! But just the thought of it is stressing me out right now. However, to backtrack and give anyone interested some more information, this last week or two has been particularly stressful, in terms of figuring out my next move. Since finishing my travels, I’ve been working at summer school again, as I have in previous years. However, my contract finishes tomorrow. And I’m struggling with what to do next. I don’t want to say too much, until I know things for definite, but I had provisionally accepted a job offer and was making arrangements to start next month. However, I had various concerns about it, which I had hoped would be resolved soon, but even after discussing things with them I was still unsure, so I started looking about again. I ended up getting another offer (less than a week after initially applying), with a much better deal and a more stable position, but with considerably more hours, which was putting me off slightly. I know that the real world involves more hour than university did, I’m not that naïve, but this is really quite a lot. However, considering where and what it is, and the qualifications I have, it’s probably the best I can hope for, so that’s looking like the plan for the moment – again, I’ll probably explain more another time. But accepting that job comes with a whole slew of other things to arrange for it – yay, more stress! None of this is a long term plan – I don’t have anything resembling one of those. How many graduates out there do? I’m genuinely curious, as I feel like there are some out there who have everything planned out, a life of achievable goals, and then others like me, with no idea what they’re doing. I don’t think my blog title has ever been so apt as it is right now. So even if I do take this job, it’s not something I want as a “real career” – so what do I do after that? Having a degree means that I feel like I’m expected to get a real job and career, making good money, but how do I do that when I don’t know what I want to do? Will I be viewed as a disappointment or failure if I never figure that out? Will I feel like I’m wasting time if I just mess around for too long? What is actually going to make me happy? And are there any other of you graduates out there feeling like this? Long story short, my life has been pretty much mapped out up until now. And in some ways it’s liberating to not know what’s coming next. But it’s also completely terrifying. So can anyone provide me with some reassurance or advice or anything really? Am I alone in feeling like this? Will things work out? What do I do next? Sincerely, A confused graduate P.S. I looked really hard to get a photo without a graduation cap, because Edinburgh University doesn’t use them!

Okay. How is January over already?! The first month of the year is already under our belts, but I hope it's been a good one for you so far. A new year brings so many new opportunities and experiences, and so does each month! January brought many challenges, but it also brought many new opportunities, and I'm excited to crush my goals again in February! As far as a mini life update, I'll share that towards the end. Fair warning, it's real talk. I'm sharing my heart and I'm opening up to a lot of things I've kept hidden from my blog life. January Goals Revisited // Personal Goals One // Clear out the spare closet Check! I actually just packed up all of the clothes that I'll be getting rid of in a huge bin and it's all ready to get out the door! Two // Read one book Okay, I am actually the worst with reading. I didn't even pick up a book last month. Definitely gotta try harder in February. Blogging Goals One // Pre-write blog posts YAS! I've been doing this and it's helped so much. Whenever I feel inspired to write, I write as many as I can and have posts written weeks in advance! I have my posts planned out all the way through the end of February already and a few into March! Two // Stop focusing on numbers THIS! No joke this has changed the game for me. Of course I'm still going to look into my analytics, I am running a business after all, but I'm not obsessing over them and driving myself crazy. I'm using my numbers to help me grow versus getting discouraged over them. Three // Plan out photoshoot sessions This has helped so much this past month. I met up with Summer to shoot and planned out weekends strategically to have time set aside for shoots with Christopher. Planning out a shot list is definitely a time saver! All in all, January was a really great month for me. I learned a lot, I tried many new strategies, and my blog is growing like crazy. I'm just gonna go ahead and pat myself on the back now. 😂 But in all seriousness, January was a great start to the new year! Now it's time to kick it into high gear during February. Pin Me For Later! February Goals // Personal Goals One // Pay down $1,000 in debt We still have a few thousand left to pay off from our wedding and of course we have crippling student loans. I'd love to focus $1,000 of this month's income on paying down some debt. I know it will help us in the long run--especially since we *fingers crossed* will be moving in a few months. Two // Secure a place to live So we have to move out of the apartment we are in now. It's gotten horrible over the past few months. They've let many people move in that should not have been accepted to live here, and it's just turned our "luxury" neighborhood into garbage. I'm talking screaming at 2:00 AM, playing drums under our bedroom at 2:30 AM...the list goes on and on, but I can't take it anymore! My goal is to secure a place to live, whether it be a home or another apartment. Blogging Goals One // Grow my New Facebook Group In January, I started a group called Cultivating Instagram Engagement for Bloggers. If you're looking to grow your Instagram following, engage with new people, and be part of of genuine community, I'd love for you to join! Join here >>> Cultivating Instagram Engagement for Bloggers Two // Continue organically growing on Instagram During January, I tried something new. I interacted more with accounts I was following and made a ton of new blogging friends by interacting and following those I wasn't following. I stopped caring about a follower to following ratio, and if I genuinely liked someone's account, I followed them with no questions asked. I may or may not have a post in the works about my organic strategy, because I gained a record amount of followers in just 30 days! 😉 Follow along with me on Instagram here! Three // Focus on increasing Pinterest engagement & monthly viewers As a blogger, Pinterest is super important. Pinterest alone drives over 30k+ new viewers to my blog each month and they're sticking around too, because they read 2+ blog posts each time they visit! I want to continue to dive in and focus on growing my Pinterest monthly viewers, because I am so close to hitting the pageview goal I've set for myself! Mini Life Update // As you can tell from my goals, my blog life has been going really well! I am so happy with where I am in the blogging world, since I've only been blogging full-time since last February. But unfortunately, the income isn't where it needs to be right now, and I know a lot of other bloggers are feeling the same. Okay fair warning, prep for word vomit and tons of vulnerability, it's time for #realtalk. Related Reading: Why I Quit My Job Without Having Another I've been feeling all kinds of emotions the past few months from sadness, anger, and I've been feeling useless. I'm sad because I put so much time (50+ hours a week!), effort, and passion behind what I do, and I feel like it's not paying out. I'm angry at myself, because I gave up a steady income, yes to pursue my dreams, but gosh, it's scary! Essentially, we'd be in a house already, student loans would be paid way down, and maybe we actually would have had enough money to go on a freaking honeymoon. Was it all worth it? I hope so. Now sadly, I feel useless and I hate to even admit this, but I do--I'm just being real with you (obviously). Sometimes I feel useless in the blog world, because do people even care about what I'm writing about?! Honestly, how many people are going to read this last paragraph? If you are, you're the real MVP, but gosh, I hate this feeling. I also feel useless, because my income means nothing to lenders since I am self-employed. Chris and I really need a new place to live (due to the reasons I explained above & more so in my personal goals), and we were hoping to buy a house within the next 1-2 months, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen, and so I'm preparing for the worst. Pin Me For Later! I feel at fault here for a lot of the personal opportunities that Chris and I have had to give up the past year, and I don't want to feel that way anymore. If you've been following along on the blog for the past year, you know that I've been looking for a part-time job for a while now--something to fill in the gap and to have an income that counts to the world. It's been an entire year of looking with no luck and I feel so defeated. Within the past month, I've applied to several places and I'm mentally preparing myself to re-enter the workforce, but nothing ever seems right. I have a really great opportunity on the horizon, and I pray that a) it works out or b) something good comes from it. To answer a question that might be at the back of your mind, no I won't be giving up blogging. I've worked far too hard to get to where I am today. I'm just accepting the fact that I need to take more responsibility, because my actions and decisions affect more than just me now. Chris has been more than supportive every step of the way, and for that, I'll be forever grateful, but I want to work harder to show him that I appreciate all of his support and encouragement this past year. So, in saying all of that, if you could keep me in your prayers, especially in the next few weeks as they are crucial to this entire process. I know God has an amazing plan and that everything will work itself out, but man is He cutting it close this time! I love you all & thanks for hearing my heart.
