Bottega Veneta is pleased to announce the opening of its Tokyo flagship — at 5-6-1 Ginza Chuo-Ku. Set on five floors, it will be the biggest Bottega Veneta store in Asia, showcasing women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags, small leather goods, luggage, eyewear, shoes, watches, fragrance, jewelry and the Home and Furniture collections. The look of the Tokyo flagship is designed to reflect the character of its home city. The new store is housed within a sleek structure inspired by the Japanese capital’s futuristic spirit and modernist architecture. The façade echoes the iconic intrecciato weave, created with over 900 silvery square metal panels. The interior takes inspiration from Light and Space artists of the 1960s who explored a conceptual use of light and geometric shapes to create an environment. Space is framed by inclined and folding planes created with “Kyoto white” plaster and classic mineral plaster, nodding to both the local and Italian traditions. The store is decorated with the Bottega Veneta Furniture collection made in a palette exclusive to the store. The décor also features a selection of iconic vintage Italian furnishings, such as Gio Ponti chairs. All the seating is placed throughout the store to encourage a relaxed and comfortable ambience. Occupying 800 sq m over six floors, the Ginza outpost is the brand’s biggest store in Asia to date with Bottega Veneta CEO Claus-Dietrich Lahrs’ referring to the country as ‘one of our most important markets in the world’. It was designed entirely in-house, the brand says, to reflect the Japanese capital’s futuristic spirit and modernist architecture. From the outside, a facade of silvery grey metal panels arranged in a lattice pattern make the entire building appear as if it has been wrapped inside the Italian brand’s signature ‘Intrecciato’ leather weave.
