"I ask my toddler what's in the box she's holding. "Chaos!" she replies. "Chaos! Chaos!" I know she's trying to say "crayons," but it's not like she's wrong."
Ok, this whole pandemic thing is hard, especially as we watch it run amok through the US. So I turn to my comics as a coping mechanism. I moonlight as a cartoonist and use my comics to explore what’s happening around me and my family to find some truth and hopefully connect with others through humor. I post a new comic almost every day on my website and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check them out and let me know what resonates with your life and experiences! And follow along on social to see new cartoons! Here is Part 1 of my comics on Bored Panda.

It’s hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer, Readerbuzz, and Book Date. The Sunday Post #281 On The Blog Last Week I recommended monster books! On The Blog This Week I recommend nonfiction books for Nonfiction November! In My Reading Life I finished Followers by Megan Angelo. I actually DNFed it a few months ago, but I wasn't sure if that was my fault or the book's, so I gave it another chance. It's a dystopia about famous people and the reporters who get paid to write about them. In this world, the famous people are kept in luxurious zoos and have cameras pointed at them constantly. Their only goal is to get followers so they can become more famous. Then, one of the famous women escapes and makes a run for her life. I probably should have listened to my first instinct and not finished this book. It's not bad! It's funny and raises interesting questions. Like, what would our lives be like if we lost the internet and had to rebuild it from scratch? What would we change about it? And, how can you trust anyone when everyone wants to be famous? How do you know if your friends are using you for fame? I struggled with this book because the characters are all awful humans, but they're not awful in ways I find compelling. I guess I'm just not interested in fame? The characters' problems didn't hold my attention, and I found the plot's pacing painfully slow. Actually, the book reminds me of those "housewives" shows. A lot of over-the-top drama and selfish people fighting for attention. Like the "housewives" shows, it didn't do much for me. I understand the appeal, though. I had better luck with Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This is the conclusion to a chunky science fiction trilogy set in space. It follows a group of teens whose planet has been attacked by a hostile company that wants the planet's natural resources. Some of the teens are refugees on a rescue spaceship. Others are still trapped on the planet. They all want revenge. It's a great finale! I love seeing how the plotlines and characters converge. There's action and twists and explosions. I was nervous that my favorite characters wouldn't make it to the end. My only complaint is the "security camera footage" sections. I know that they're necessary for the reader to understand what's happening, but there are too many of them. I prefer the transcripts and artistic sections of the book. They're fun to read. Overall, it's a beautifully creative trilogy. I recommend it. Nonfiction November starts tomorrow! I'll be reading nonfiction all month. My first book will be The 57 Bus: A True Story Of Two Teenagers And The Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater. I guess we're starting the month with true crime. In The Rest Of My Life Five things that made me happy last week: Happy Halloween! Happy Halloween candy! I caught up on the current season of The Great British Bake Off, and I'm super excited for all the holiday baking shows on the Food channel. I really wish I could bake, but I don't need the calories. I have to be happy watching other people do it. I started running again. I didn't run for a month because I was sick and busy. Now I'm back to running 4 days a week. It's sad how much fitness I lost in a month. My first 5k after my time off was brutal. It was below freezing outside. I thought my lungs were going to explode. I'm back to making content for Pinterest! I barely made anything all summer because I was working too many hours and didn't have the energy. I missed you Pinterest, even though you still haven't fixed the annoying parts of your algorithm. I even made a meme about it.
