Hello World! I’m so sorry for being MIA since last Wednesday. We closed on the colonial house last Friday and then Saturday we had to be out of our old house. The Wednesday Sweater is worked from the top down. First the back is worked back and forth, while the slant of the shoulders is shaped with short rows to create a good fit. After this, each shoulder is worked separately back and forth on the circular needles. The shoulders are then joined to from the front yoke. At the underarm, the front and back are joined and the body is worked in the round on the circular needles. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and knitted along the armholes and the sleeves are worked in the round down to the cuffs on a circular needle and double-pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique. The large turtleneck collar is worked at the end from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the neck edge. The edges and collar are worked in twisted rib. Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Size Guide The Wednesday Sweater is designed to have approx. 25 cm [9¾ inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 25 cm [9¾ inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The fit is oversized. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches]. The measurements for the finished garment are on the front page of the pattern. Before beginning your project, measure yourself to determine which size to knit. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 115 cm [45¼ inches] which in the given example would give you 25 cm [9¾ inches] of positive ease. Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL Bust circumference: 110 (115) 120 (125) 135 (145) 155 (165) 175 cm [43¼ (45¼) 47¼ (49¼) 53¼ (57) 61 (65) 69 inches] (measured just below the armholes) Length: 62 (63) 64 (65) 70 (72) 73 (74) 76 cm [24,5 (24,75) 25,25 (25,5) 27,5 (28,25) 28,75 (29,25) 30 inches] (measured mid back excl. turtleneck collar) Gauge: 15 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch after wash and blocking 16-17 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in twisted rib (k1 tbl, p1 tbl) after wash and blocking (gauge for turtleneck collar and rib edges at cuffs and hem) Needles: Circular needles: 5 mm [US8] / 40, 60 and 80 and/or 100 cm [16, 24 and 32 and/or 40 inches] Double-pointed needles: 5 mm [US8] (unless the Magic Loop technique is used) Materials: 500 (500) 500-550 (550) 600 (650) 650 (700) 700-750 g Peruvian Highland Wool by Filcolana (50 g = 100 m [109 yds]) (here in the color Marzipan) held together with 150 (150) 150 (150) 150 (150) 150 (200) 200 g Silk Mohair by Sysleriget (50 g = 420 m [459 yds]) (here in the color Daisy’s Summer Dress) or 125 (125) 125 (125) 150 (150) 150 (175) 175 g Silk Mohair by Isager Yarn (25 g = 212 m [232 yds]) or Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes Garn (25 g = 212 m [232 yds]) or Tilia by Filcolana (25 g = 212 m [232 yds]) The Wednesday Sweater in the picture is knitted in Peruvian Highland Wool (Marzipan) from Filcolana and Daisy´s Summer Dress from Sysleriget.

The Round-Up is comprised of features from the Before & After Wednesday party at The Dedicated House. Dedicated to diy and room transformations. Pretty much…
This was a custom project I did for a pair of lovely clients. They had a pretty good sense of what they were looking for, and we were able to find the perfect hutch to meet their needs. This was an exceptionally fine piece of furniture, made by Huntley, and was a real treat to work on. I removed the glass and hardware, taped the hinges, and sanded and de-glossed the whole thing. They opted to do the piece in handsome saturated tones of red and green, with a slight dark wax to add a little depth. I polished the brasses up to add even more flash. The piece reminded me of something you'd see in an English hunting lodge, so to play off that theme, I staged it with many of my animal sculptures, trophies as it were. Also, I wore a smoking jacket and puffed at a pipe whilst taking the pictures...Only parts of that are true. Before and afters below!

So, I feel comfortable admitting something to you guys. Since we are such good friends and all. I am a furniture hoarder. It's true. I'm like an industrious little squirrel--always on the look out for another yummy looking nut to stash away for a later time. I may not even need the piece of furniture, but if I like it, I will get it. {Much to my husband's dismay.} I may need an intervention. In the case of this small side table, I picked this up at a Goodwill while in Austin for a Texas bloggers meetup over a year ago. Thank goodness this table is so little or it may have been evicted from the garage much sooner. As soon as I saw this petite table, I had to have it. I love the pretty legs {great gams!} and the little back splash. There were a few marks on the top of the table and something had eaten through the varnish {nail polish remover can do that} but I knew that wouldn't matter once I painted it. {I have a really hard time painting antiques but this table is definitely not an antique.} I bought the table to use as my daughter's nightstand and since I was getting close to finishing her big girl room, I wanted to knock this project off the list. I am doing her room in blues, pinks and greens. There is a lot of pink and blue already but not a whole lot of green so I decided to paint the little nightstand a pale shade of green. A few months ago, Jill shared her DIY chalk paint recipe with us and I liked the idea of being able to pick any color that I wanted and make it into chalk paint. I ended up using the Plaster of Paris recipe {3 parts paint to 1 part Plaster of Paris} and it worked so well! I honestly couldn't tell a difference between my homemade chalk paint and the more expensive chalk paints. It covered really well and has a nice, matte, chalky finish. After a couple coats of wax, the table was done! My daughter was really excited to have her "little green table" up in her room. And I am really excited to have one more piece of furniture finished and out of the garage. My husband concurs.
