Hello Friends! Besides working on the set up in my classroom, I am also thinking about the first few weeks of school. My kiddos drop in before school starts and besides giving them a special gift from me, I also ask them to fill out an "All About Me" poster that they take home and fill out with their parents. There are several types that can be purchased and I HAVE purchased them. The problem I have with some of the purchased ones is that they are too large and have too much information on them for a kinder to fill out. I like to display these in the hallway for our Open House and the poster sized ones just take up too much room. So.... I created a one page 8 1/2" x 11" poster that is easy for little ones to do. I have a variety of 12" x 12" scrapbook paper available for them to choose from. I staple the poster to the scrapbook paper and send it home. Adding the poster to the scrapbook paper creates more space for those that want to do more such as adding photographs. To access this free poster, click the image above or below. This is a Google doc download. If your school does not allow downloads from outside your network, you will have to download at home. I also like to do an "All About Me" book with my kinders at the start of the year. But just as with the posters, I have found many "Me" books to be overwhelming to little ones just beginning school. So I have them do a simple "All About Me" book that is easy for them to finish and also continues the tradition of having a beginning of the year keepsake. Find this simple book by clicking the image above or below. Until next time! Blessings,

Getting to Know Me is an engaging and interactive printable preschool activity for educators. It allows children to express themselves and share information about their likes, dislikes, and personal interests.
Save yourself some time and energy planning a post-holidays reflection activity. This is a great writing/drawing activity to get kids back into the swing of things after the winter holidays. You can differentiate easily - single word responses for the little guys, paragraph only for the older kiddos, drawings/pictures, etc. It also provides an easy and great platform for sharing in partners, small groups, or with the whole class - and they look great up in the hallway or decorating the classroom walls afterwards! My favorite part is to have kids share what they GAVE to someone else :) Thanks for browsing! **Want to EARN TpT credits? I wanted to stop by and share a few fraction freebies with you all. I love craftivities and always try to make any skill tie into a craft someway or another. There's just something about seeing a cute craft hanging up that makes your teacher heart smile big. This week we wrapped up our fraction unit with these Pot of Gold Fractions. Each student had to color and write the fraction under each flip. They also had to write if their fractions was halves or fourths on the clovers. Here are a few fraction craftivities that we made last year. You can find those here. One of my favorite things to use when teaching fractions is sticky notes. They work like a charm! There are TONS of different shapes, etc that can be used to make different fractions. Here is an example of how we used them to look at equal and unequal pieces. We also used them to create halves and fourths. You can read more on how we used sticky notes last year here. Happy Wednesday friends! I am officially on the countdown for Spring Break!! 2 more days!!

I usually print all of the worksheets and make a workbook for the kids, with a maze, seek & find, type page and a coloring picture (it's just for the picture, there's not time to do it) and these worksheets. I figure kids are dependent on their parents (or grandparents) to bring them, and so they can take this home when we are finished using it in class. As you can see, I taught all the Paul lessons together after teaching the early Acts lessons. And, I had to delete a couple that I wanted to teach because of the number of weeks that I have the students in my class. At some point, when I have more time, I will add those also. Hey, friends! Today I'm sharing what my students, all of 'em, kindergarten through fourth grade, are working on to kick off the school year. I am calling them our Getting to Know You Sculptures! If you follow me on Instagram, than you know I've been sharing a lot of info about this. I've gotten a TON of requests for the sheet...so I thought I'd share it with you. I know this sheet has been unavailable for some time...the link has been fixed! You can get two sheets now! Here's one! Here's the other! I wanted to create a lesson that the kids would love, would be easy for all to be successful at and help me out...I have to be absent for the next couple of days. So I knew I'd want something that would be easy and fun for my sub. I created a video for my sub (I always do...it just makes for much smoother sailing) and I thought I'd share it with you...just so you could see how I explain this lesson to my students. Note: I WILL NOT be using the sheet with my kindergarteners. Here is the lesson that I do with them...very similar but without the sheet of paper as their guide: So far the kids have been LOVING this project and I am enjoying getting to know them! They've also been chatting to each other about why they picked what and it's so fun to hear them talk about it. I cannot wait to share with you how this lesson will progress...so stay tuned. You might have noticed that I DO NOT use glue bottles. You can find out why here. Not gonna lie, storage is gonna be an issue until we get these hung up! I'm having some classes do theirs on a white background 12" square paper and others on black. For open house night, I plan to hang them in a checkerboard patter. The strips of paper are cut frmo copy paper. In an attempt to stay organized, I'm keeping them clipped according to table colors. PLEASE NOTE...I love sharing lessons with you all and I do so for free. All I ask in return is that, if you use ANY of my lessons, please give credit where it's due. If you share on social media, please let folks know where you go the lesson from...this way they can benefit from the free resources as well. THANK YOU!

Teaching commas in a series can be a bit tough for primary learners. Sometimes, they don’t understand where the commas are supposed to go. We hit this skill several times over the course of a year. I was trying to think outside of the box, and I did the following activity with my kids that...Read More »

I did the primary derby for singing time yesterday and it was a HIT with the kids. They absolutely loved it and I will definately be making this a tradition during Pinewood Derby time each year. My hubby made a track for me. We used baseboard from Lowe's. It has to be shaped like this one so that the cars do not fall off the track. The edges go up on the sides. We bought one 8 ft board and cut it in half for two tracks. This was the finished product. My hubby made the supports on the back using a piece of wood in the garage and then spray painted it black. He screwed the track onto a small piece of wood that went in between the two legs. I will post the side view below I wanted to get two checkered racing flags from party city for the kids to direct the music. When I went they did not have them available. I went to Wal mart and picked up a tablecloth for $2 and was able to use that to make 2 flags, 2 banners and the left over checkered part fit perfectly on the small table in the primary room. For the flags I bought a dowel at Lowe's for $.56. I cut out my 2 sections from the tablecloth and taped and hot glued them to the dowels. The banners were the top and bottom portions of the table cloth. Perfect to hang above the chalkboards and the left over cloth fit on the small table in the primary room. To play I taped the songs on the bottom of 14 hot wheel or match box type cars. I picked two kids to come up at a time, they picked the cars they wanted and on GO they would race their car down the track. Whoever's crossed the finish line first or at all, won and that's the song we would sing. The kids that raced would direct the song with the racing flags. They loved it!!! This was them in action!! A big hit! Definitely a keeper This next week we will be doing our Singing Super Bowl. I will post pics of that in the next few days! Oh, and one more thing. The kids sang so well Sunday that the Rocking Ball dropped to the floor and they were able to get their treat. This was our monthly motivator. You can find that in a previous post. I will be starting February's motivator next week. The Bursting With Love package! Check back in for those pics as well! Thank you for stopping and Happy Singing!!
