I’ve been finding some treasures on Facebook Marketplace over the last several weeks of living in our new home and I thought I’d share how I navigate the platform along with a few tips I’ve learned. The dining table shown above was listed for $159 as a “Gorgeous Solid Wood Dining Table” which doesn’t necessarily...

Have you ever had a certain room or space in your home that you couldn't get quite right? I actually have several, one of them being our library. I may have just found the perfect piece of furniture on Craigslist recently...and it seems to be bringing the room and my vision for it, to life. I absolutely love French style furniture. My home is a victorian, but oddly I don't really love true Victorian style. I prefer the soft curvy lines of french pieces, rather than the dark, masculine and sometimes over powering eastlake style furniture. I'm sure I do have a few victorian pieces around my home, but french style, especially Louis XV is my favorite. When I spotted this antique hand carved Louis XV console table on craigslist I knew it needed to come home with me. When the seller dropped the price almost in half, I went for it. The hand carved bouquet of pink flowers in the bottom center was what sold me on it. I have never seen a table that had a carved bouquet of flowers on it before. I found a similar one on Pinterest which was worth thousands. So into the library my new antique French console table went. Her lines are graceful and feminine. I love the pop of blue/green color that she lends to the space. The blue of the table compliments my antique settee perfectly! This settee is a true piece of antique French furniture and is extremely old. It was imported from Europe. Below is a Pinterest photo of a French console table that is similar to mine. I decided to order my favorite French fabric of all time. This is called Covington Bosporus. I ordered it to drape on either sides of my French doors in the library. I love the blues and greens and I believe it will marry well with my table and settee. This fabric also looks beautiful with pink, which is good as my walls are a very pale pink and so are some of my pillows. The next two photos are the library when we viewed the house for the first time. So I also ordered a rug. This one below, to be exact. I like quirky things, and the unexpected, when it comes to decor. Leopard print is one of my favorite "go to prints". I see it as a neutral, and in my opinion, it never goes out of style. I had a zebra print rug in the library for a while now, but it felt to harsh in that space. I'm going to re-home it to my office. Here is a Pinterest picture of what look I'm trying to go for. You can see that the beautiful blue/green console table looks quite nice with the leopard rug! I actually don't even notice the rug. I have black and brown damask rugs in my living room. They are beautiful, but also a lifesaver when you have children. So many things have been spilled on those rugs and they still look great! I try to have dark colored rugs throughout my home, one, because not everyone takes their shoes off at the door (we are all guilty) and two, because I live with two boys, aka, my son and husband. I TRY to incorporate just a little masculine into my decor when I can, for them. So, this is the start of my new look. I ordered everything and it is still en route to me. I only have three framed pictures of France on the walls right now. I am hoping that this year I will be able to put up French style moldings on the walls in here. I want this space to be very French Chic! And....just a peek at a project that I've almost completed after two years of waiting for the right items to show up. I can't wait to share it with you soon! We have been so busy here at Welch House. Yesterday we finally finished the repairs on our front porch and portico ceilings. Loose paint has been scraped off, and in a few days I will start painting them! I can't wait to share the before and afters with you! I also need to share my son's toy room with you as well! It will be a busy summer! Stay well, and I will talk to you soon! -Larissa

I *love* French Louis chairs. However, there are four different types of Louis chairs. I see them frequently mislabeled so I've created a guide on how to tell the difference! There were four French Kings named Louis and they each had a different style. The styles take us from Late Renaissance, to Baroque, to Rococo,

He specialized in creating furniture and works of art and was known for his high quality reproductions of Louis XV and XVI furniture with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts as well as Boulle style pieces. Sormani usually engraved the lock-plate of some of his pieces with his name P. SORMANI / 10, rue Charlot - PARIS, some of his earlier bronze castings bear the initials "SP" or "PS" on the reverse. He exhibited at many Universal Exhibitions, like in Paris in 1855, where he was awarded a first class medal, in London in 1862 where he received another medal and yet again in Paris in 1867. Everyone agreed that his creations revealed the highest standards of quality; during the 1867 Universal Exhibition the catalog described his work as follows: 'Toute sa production révèle une qualité d’exécution de tout première ordre.' In 1867, he moved to 10. rue Charlot, Paris, where he met a great success until his death in 1877. His wife and son took over the business and later moved it to 134, Boulevard Haussmaun. Here we have the Rococo Chest Of Drawers. Occasionally referred to as ‘late Baroque’ Rococo is an 18th Century style of design which developed as artists began to place less focus on symmetry and became much more ornate, florid and playful. The word itself is seen as a combination of French words rocaille, meaning stone, and coquilles, meaning shell, very much down to the reliance of these objects as motif and decoration in Rococo design. This great history and story behind this piece is kept alive with our collection, as you see here with this Antique French Chest Of Drawers in it's ornate detail hand carved from durable and high quality mahogany. This wonderful Chest Of Drawers works exceptional either on its own or complimented alongside our shabby chic furniture. Overall Size Height: 83cm. Width: 100cm. Depth: 50cm. Drawers Height: 12.5cm. Width: 78cm. Depth: 33cm. Rococo furniture can also be co-ordinated and matched alongside pieces from the following additional collections; La Rochelle. Estelle. Baroque . Emmanuelle.
