Please note that this is a pattern download, not the actual ornament. After watching a live performance of the Nutcracker Suite, I HAD to try to recreate the magic story on my own tree. Based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker is an immensely popular ballet, often performed around Christmas. The"Russian dance", is one of the most recognizable pieces in the ballet, along with the "Waltz of the Flowers" and the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy". This bright, sparkling ornament has a vintage look that is perfect for your Christmas tree or as a gift for a special ballerina. If you can cut felt and know basic hand stitches (whipstitch, backstitch, running stitch) you can make this ornament. This pattern includes instructions how to paint the head yourself. The finished ornament will measure 6 inches tall. Supply List: Wool felt. Polyester craft felts will not work well for these ornaments. I’ve had great success with the wool felt at: www.etsy.com/shop/FeltOnTheFly www.etsy.com/shop/OverTheRiverFelt Sulky© Printable Print ‘n Stitch™ stabilizer Embroidery floss (matching your felt colors and contrasting) Chenille stems (pipe cleaners), short stemmed Poly stuffing Tacky glue like Aleene’s©Quick Dry Tacky Glue One 22 mm unfinished wooden bead (for the head) Acrylic paint for face and sword (instructions for painting head included) 1 toothpick Two 8 mm gold sequin, six 5 mm sequins Needles, small, sharp scissors, stuffing dowel or tool, pins, (the usual hand sewing paraphernalia).
