She was executed over a scandal involving her relationship with a Roman Catholic priest. She was 20 years old and eight months pregnant when she her lover faced a firing squad. Louise encountered the tragic story of Camila whilst living in Buenos Aires. Sharing the same surname as Camila and that of Irish ancestry intrigued Louise to research further into the life of Camila. Here in the house in Tigre in the province of Buenos Aires, Louise spent her days interpreting Camila through a series of atmospheric and emotive self portraits. About The Artwork In life, we would at times pass by liminal spaces or liminality. This artwork, is once again inspired by liminality which is a term used to describe the psychological process of transitioning across boundaries and borders. It is literally the threshold separating one space from another. It is the place in the wall where people move from one room to another. It allows us to sense freedom and experiment with new behaviours. In such regard, 'liminal' situations can be a seedbed of creativity. It can inform new aspirations, identities and structures. It can allow us to let go of what we no longer need while exploring what comes next. Here, you can see, the transition from dark, ominous place to the open doorway to a vigorous, yet calming background where the man in the yellow raincoat is entering.
