One way to make your house feel like a home is to add personal photos. I created a custom Framebridge gallery wall perfect for our home!
While the table was stunning, it was dwarfed by that huge white wall, and the clients said it felt “very cold and unwelcoming” – not at *all* the feeling we want in a Seriously Happy home! Luckily, it wasn’t going to take much to go from cold to cozy. So, how did we add some personality and warmth? The liability in this room was the size of the wall. If we filled it with one giant piece of art it might have looked amazing, but it also might have been a bit overwhelming. We needed to find a way to fill it, but still, make it feel inviting and human-scaled. So instead of one giant piece of art, we added a gallery wall. We specified four 4-foot picture rails from Room and Board (we LOVE these picture rails – they complement every room, from contemporary and industrial to transitional and classic!) with varying sizes of matching frames. That was a good start, but we still needed a little more texture, so we suggested a wall-mounted wine riddling rack from Pottery Barn to fill the wall on the right side of the gallery – it’s so great filled with wine or succulents! Then we tied the whole feature wall together with two simple, contemporary console tables to underscore the gallery wall. Dining rooms feel most cozy with a rug, but for an eating area, they need to be *low* maintenance! For that, we love Flor tiles, and here we specified Mined And Yours in Pigeon/Silver. Flor tiles are great because you can piece them together in any size, and if one gets spilled on you can take it out to wash it off. And of course, no dining space feels complete without a wonderful light fixture, and here we added a TON of warm texture with this fabulous fixture, adding so much light and personality to the space! Here is the room in real life! The gallery wall brings life to the room not only by adding fantastic texture, but also by displaying all the memories personal and unique to the wonderful couple that lives here! What a perfect backdrop for making more memories! Have you moved into a new home that needs a little more personality? Maybe we can help!
