Romanian-born artist Adela Andea creates futuristic light installations that range from wall-based works to immersive environments. The pieces appear as lit explosions, with LED lights, magnifying lenses, and flex neon springing outwards in a blend of chaos and control. Despite their composition of electrified material, each work is inspired by natural phenomena. Andea looks to bioluminescent sea life, melting icebergs, and cosmological events to shape the composition and meaning of her large-scale installations. About The Artwork These thermale baths were created to recover the ancient baths in a city in Italy. The grand spa was one of the first in Italy and Europe, encompassing elegance, a plenitude of therapies, water mineralization and it was a beautiful place. The city began to empty with the first bombings of World War II. Miraculously the baths were saved. In the 1970’s, The imminent reopening of the dancehall was stopped by a fire of unknown origin. It broke out in the party room of the Baths. The fire was put out after about six hours. Since then a black veil of neglect and lack of interest covers all of the great palace. Such great ingenuity was used to create this jewel of architectural engineering and such great indifference is why it is in it’s poor state of neglect to this day. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm Giclee print, a premium quality paper, which is perfect for Gina Soden's brightly coloured and textured images. Fine Art Baryta paper has a similar foundation to that used in the past in traditional silver fibre prints. Its premium formulation allows for high image definition and 3-dimensional colour depth.
