Raised on his family's cattle ranch in Idaho, Brent's first lessons in art were taught by his grandmother, a talented watercolorist. He grew up sketching the cowboys and horses he observed every day. His family moved to Lindsborg, Kansas when he was in the 5th grade. In this little town steeped in it's Swedish heritage and love of the arts, Brent's creativity flourished. In high school an influential instructor encouraged him to pursue a career in art.

Oak Tree on Slattery WORK-IN-PROGRESS, detail: This is a progress detail from the second of two “neighborhood” paintings I’m doing as a print commission. That is, my client wanted large prints similar to two of my previously sold paintings, and the images I had were too small to make good 16 x 20 prints, so, per the request of my client, I’m creating new versions of those two paintings from which to make prints, and making the originals available for purchase. Below is the entire painting so far: As you can see, I’m sort of working from the left side of the board to the right, So the left side is mostly finished, while on the right the vivid underpainting is still fully visible. Check back soon to see further progress ... Good night ... colorful dreams, everyone!

Shifting Shadows © 2016 Karen Mathison Schmidt 16 x 12 inches • acrylic on 3/4" cradled GessobordTM SOLD • private collection, Elk Grove, California Yesterday afternoon was beautiful and spring-like, perfect for a little plein-air painting. My portable French easel is still in storage, but I didn’t let that stop me! I dragged my big easel and a chair out to a pretty spot out a ways from the house, loaded up my little red wagon with all my supplies, and spent a glorious couple of hours painting away. The challenging part was that it was late in the day so the shadows were changing pretty fast. After I had the gist of the painting on the board, I brought it back to the house to finish in my studio.
Can you ever think of art without bringing in color and lights in one form or the other? Maybe you can but most people find that colors are an integral part of art, one that cannot be easily separated from the concept of art. We are going to talk about how you can look at the play of colors in Fauvism art and make it your favorite if you are one of the people who loves the role that colors play in art. In fact, even if you are one of those who is looking at grey living room ideas to adapt in your home, adding a touch of fauvism art for a little bit of contrast. Before you start looking at the influence that fauvism has had on art on the whole, let us look at the origins of fauvism.

About The Artwork “Another way to look at meditation is to view the process of thinking itself as a waterfall, a continual cascading of thought. In cultivating mindfulness we are going beyond or behind our thinking, much the way you might find a vantagepoint in a cave or depression in a rock behind a waterfall. We still see and hear the water, but we are out of the torrent.” ― Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life Original Created:2018 Subjects:Landscape Materials:Canvas Styles:Fine ArtImpressionismRealism Mediums:Acrylic Details & Dimensions Painting:Acrylic on Canvas Original:One-of-a-kind Artwork Size:15 W x 30 H x 1.5 D in Frame:Not Framed Ready to Hang:Not applicable Packaging:Ships in a Box Shipping & Returns Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments. This is winding country road which runs alongside a bayou just up the road from us. Even though we’re not quite there yet, season-wise, I’ve chosen to paint the trees in all their springtime splendor. One thing I’m discovering about painting this way (wet-in-wet) is that in order to keep the colors from getting muddy I have to apply the paint thicker and do only one or two strokes at a time before wiping my brush. At first this slowed me down a bit, but once I got a rhythm going this one moved right along, and I LOVE the buttery feel of the thick paint going on!
