This is a full colour mezzotint ars medica illustration C.1755 by the anatomist and artist Jacques Gautier d'Agoty. It traverses the fine line between being an example of human anatomy to be studied by medical students, as well as being a beautiful work of art that illustrates the cranium, nerves of the eyes, a cross section of the brain in situ, and additional examples of facial anatomy. This good lookin' original human anatomy chart of the central nervous system is from 1920. As you can see, 'Nervous Dude' is a bit of a nervous wreck! Here he is showing a profile view of the human nervous system starting at the cranium and extending all through the human trunk. He's numbered for identifying 23 of the more sensitive areas in the body. It's almost as if this 97-year-old 6.5 X 10" medical chart just rolled off the presses this morning. He's in handsome like-new condition. Just picture this fine-looking gentleman elegantly matted and framed on display in your favorite medical student's office of the future. Matted and framed and displayed as a grouping, these fascinating anatomical book prints are simply spectacular.
