Engage your middle and high school English students in a thought-provoking and creative Earth Day activity with our "Earth Day: What If Poem Writing Activity" resource. This engaging resource provides a unique opportunity for students to explore environmental themes and express their ideas through the art of poetry. Included in this resource is an Assignment Sheet outlining the task and offering valuable tips to guide students through the writing process. Additionally, students will find a Graphic Organizer designed specifically for brainstorming questions and answers to include in their "What If" poems. This organizer encourages critical thinking and helps students structure their poems effectively with a focus on repetition. Once students have brainstormed their ideas, they can use the provided What If Poem Sheet to craft their final copy of the poem. Whether students opt for a concise series of two-line stanzas or prefer a longer pattern with four-line stanzas per question, they will have the flexibility to express their creativity and reflect on the significance of Earth Day in their verse. With this resource, teachers can facilitate a meaningful Earth Day activity that not only enhances students' writing skills but also fosters their awareness and appreciation of environmental issues.
