A schematic diagram representing the major (and many minor) liveries worn by coaching stock (hauled and multiple units) under the British Rail brand from the Rail Blue of the Corporate Identity Manual in 1965 to the end of "Sectorisation". The colourful schemes (some pleasant, others not so) of the regional Passenger Transport Executives (PTEs) are included for fun. Health warning - this is a schematic representation and no attempt has been made to actually map the colours. Instead the basic shades and colours are roughly represented on a limited palette picked mainly for aesthetic reasons. E.g. the same blue has been used for Rail Blue and Regional Railways, in reality they were totally different colours. Health warning 2 - some of these schemes were worn by single sets, a few may be missing. It's a picture, just enjoy it!
