If you had to list the builders at the top of today’s custom scene, most observers would put Deus in the top five. A lot of this reputation comes from transforming Yamaha’s SR series—a machine that’s not officially sold in Australia, but is well-suited to Sydney's rutted streets. So we bring you the latest Deus SR, nicknamed Oddjob. According to Deus’ creative director Carby Tuckwell, “The idea started as a little cafe hoon sled, which is why it has the fiberglass bits. For builder Boy Janssen it's the perfect country road whip, and it's crammed with lovely details. Boy lives in the Dutch countryside, wrenching in his home workshop as Pancake Customs. You may remember his Yamaha XT600, built for faffing around in the dunes: Now he's back with a squared-off 1978 SR500, in a cool modern tracker style. “The bike had been sitting in my workshop for a few months before I started working on it,” Boy tells us.

If you're looking to purchase a superb bass guitar that will likely last you a lifetime, look no farther than the SR Series from Ibanez. The SR500 basses combine classic good looks with outstanding tone woods. The five-piece wenge and bubinga necks are the thinnest and fastest in their class, while the dual Bartolini pickups and 3-band EQ deliver the kind of monster tone usually associated with custom built instruments that cost a small fortune! This is unquestionably one of the best looking bass guitars around, but it's also surprisingly light weight with a superbly balanced, comfort contoured mahogany body with a sweet brown mahogany finish. Most other manufacturers charge extra for such premium timbers, but like all Ibanez instruments, the SR505 is an exceptional value. This is a bass guitar that plays every bit as great as it looks! The Ibanez SR505 sports one of the most playable necks in its class - even for a five-string! You start with a amazingly thin 5-piece jabota and bubinga neck that's perfectly matched with the SR5 Prestige bolt-on design. The nut is also thinner than you'll find on almost any production instrument. You won't believe just how fast this neck plays and how effortlessly you can access the upper frets. The jabota fingerboard offers a strong, tight sound and an attractive appearance with a long grain pattern and abalone oval inlays. While the SR505 is unquestionably a great looking bass guitar that plays like a dream, you also want your bass to deliver earth shaking lows and crystal clear highs. That's no problem thanks to the specially-designed Bartolini MK1-5 neck and bridge pickups which are matched to the Bartolini EQB-IIIS 3-band EQ circuitry. This combination allows you to quickly dial in your perfect bass sound regardless of your individual style and preference. From roadhouse blues to jazz fusion, the SR505 delivers the perfect sound every time!
