Ceramic Artist Tim Kowalczyk Can Make Clay Look Like Cardboard

Written by

In an ongoing series entitled “Tableware“, ceramic artist Tim Kowalczyk makes cups, mugs, trays and plates out of clay that look identical to cardboard. It’s only when you touch the objects that you realize all is not what it seems.

The old adage, ‘one man’s trash is another’s treasure’ couldn’t be more true with Tom who adds:

“Pathetic, absurd, antiquated, banal or even garbage are words that best describe the objects I am drawn to. These types of objects hold my attention because of the stories they can tell and what they can mean. Many times I find objects at thrift stores, yard sales or the side of the road. I am collector, picker and poet that sculpts, forms, designs and constructs sculptures with sense of purpose, priority, and preciousness. I want people to see the beauty and narrative that is held within simple overlooked objects.” [source]

Tim’s work is available through several galleries. To see more and keep up with his latest updates, check out the profiles below.
