Contemporizing Classics (9 Photos)

Written by

Brazilian designer Rodrigo Pinheiro, a.k.a. Paste in Place, discovered the art of collage at a young age. As a child, he would spend hours cutting up the pages of old magazines and arranging the images anew, giving life to the imaginary worlds in his mind.

Today his work is heavily influenced by the visual language of fashion, a realm in which he works daily—refined with a pinch of surrealism. In a nod to the format of his childhood collages, Rodrigo digitally revives the icons of classical painting, placing them in a contemporary context.
