Christoph Niemann is well-known illustrator, graphic designer, and author. After his studies in Germany he moved to New York City in 1997 (he moved back to Berlin after 11 years). From 2008-2011, Niemann wrote and illustrated a wildly popular blog for the New York Times called Abstract City.
In a post entitled My Way, Niemann drew a series of 22 clever illustrations using the look and feel of Google Maps. You can find a small selection below and see the rest on The New York Times.
In April of 2012, Niemann published Abstract City. The book comprises of all sixteen chapters of the Abstract City Blog, (including I LEGO N.Y., Red Eye, My Way) plus one new chapter on the creative process. You can find more info about that and several other books Chrstoph has published on his website.
