Mnfx is a design studio that specializes in creating custom props, models and FX. As part of a marketing campaign for Trex Decking & Railing, mnfx created these incredible miniature model decks at a scale of 1:12. The coolest part is that the decks were made using actual Trex decking materials! Yes, they actually milled down Trex boards into scale lumber pieces that measured 0.125 x 0.5 inches.
Even some of the backgrounds and landscapes were created for these fantasy decks! Truly creative craftsmanship from mnfx, check out the whole series below.
This precariously perched deck on the cliff overlooks the crashing ocean. The deck and cliff face were built constructed. The cliff was then blended into the actual cliff from the location picture. Apparently people have called Trex wanting to have their wedding on this deck. They had to do their best to explain, that’s just not possible 🙂
Here is a deck in the Grand Canyon. The rock face was also made in miniature with the stairs which helps to blend it into an actual photograph of the Grand Canyon.
No Redwoods were hurt here. Not only is the deck a miniature, so is the redwood forest the deck was built in.
The main deck was made in 1/6th scale with the portion in the forefront constructed full size. These elements were then photographed and dropped into a picture containing the house, yard and trees. All of the stonework was made in scale also.
For this beach front deck, mnfx laid out a beach with palm trees that was then composited with the picture of the background islands.
