Capturing Speed on a Tokyo Train [15 pics]

Photographer Appuru Pai took this incredible series aboard the Yurikamome Transit Line in Tokyo, Japan. Yurikamome is Tokyo’s first fully automated transit system, controlled entirely with computers with no drivers on board.

There has been some interesting debate online as to whether these can be considered ‘long exposure’ shots as the exposure time on all photographs is less than a second. However the shots themselves are taken on a train moving 60+ km/h, which creates blur and trails etc. Regardless, these photographs do a terrific job of capturing the speed and movement of the train. They are creative shots and visually stunning. For more images, be sure to check out Apppuru Pai on Flickr!
