Designer Chan Hwee Chong has recreated some of the world’s most famous portraits using just a black marker and one giant outward spiral. Commissioned by Faber Castell, makers of premium art supplies, the project showcases the incredible skill of the 33-year-old father of two.
An art director at German design studio Kolle Robbe in Hamburg, Hwee Chong said the pieces took several months to complete, as a single error meant starting again from the beginning. Watch the video below to get a sense of how each portrait is created.
