This is a Crafting Desk My husband I built for $112.00 in materials and hardware. It is a great sturdy desk with ample storage for all your crafting items. I bought the Closet maid cubicles, 2, 9 cubby ones and 1, 6 cubby one These can be found on sale alot of the time. We saved alot of money by going to a bargain center for the materials. We got the Sheets of MDF for $9.98 each. At Lowes or Home Depot they were $35 each. The Molding we put up at the top edge we got for $2.98 each. Then a tube of Liquid nails, a tube of Kwik Seal Caulk to fill in the finishing nail holes and some screws and nails. Depending on the size you want to build will be the difference in price. My desk is a quite big. The great thing about this is you can make it the size that would work for you. THE DESKS SIZE THAT I MADE WAS: MAIN DESK--75"LONG X 38"WIDE X 36-3/4 TALL SIDE DESK--50"LONG X 26"WIDE X 36-3/4 TALL MATERIALS NEEDED 2-4'x8' X 3/4inch Thick sheets of MDF with Melamine top (Melamine is like a Formica) 3-12 Foot 1"x4" Trim like Pine or your own personal choice of wood. 12-Bolts & nuts to secure 1"x4" boards to cubicles 2-12 foot pieces of Trim of your choice for the top edge 3inch screws for the pieces of frame 1-Quart of Killz primer in white 1-Quart of white paint ( I used cabinet and trim paint its high gloss) 1-Tube of liquid nails 1-Tube of Kwik Seal Caulk or hole filler Handful of small finishing nails with no head on them TOOLS NEEDED Drill & Drill bits to pre-drill holes in cubicles for bolts Philips head for drill Tape measure Caulk Gun A Square Hammer Table saw to cut sheets of MDF and trim and frame STEP 1. PLACE YOUR CUBLICES WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE THEM ACCORDING TO HOW BIG YOU WANT YOUR CRAFT DESK. . STEP 2. MAIN DESK DRILL 2 HOLES ON EACH SIDE OF THE 9 CUBBY CUBICLES ABOUT 3 INCHES APART. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DRILL YOUR HOLES A LITTLE BIGGER THEN THE BOLTS YOU WILL BE USING TO CONNECT THE 1X4 BOARDS TO IT. THEN MEASURE AND CUT YOUR BOARDS SO THAT THEY WILL BE FLUSH AGAINST THE CUBICLES AT ALL END. ON THE 1X4 BOARD TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE MAIN DESK YOU WILL CUT IT 1" SHORTER SO THAT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DESK FRAME WILL BE FLUSH WHEN YOU FRAME THAT SIDE. FOR THE CENTER YOU WILL CUT MORE 1X4 BOARDS FOR EXTRA STABILIZING AND TO PREVENT SAGGING OF THE MDF IN THE FUTURE. STEP 3 SIDE DESK: DRILL 2 HOLES ON EACH SIDE OF 6 CUBBY CUBICLE IN THE SAME FASHION AS THE FIRST SET. ATTACH BOTH BOARDS TO OPPOSITE END WITH 3-INCH WOOD SCREWS. THEN PLACE 1X4 BOARDS IN CENTER ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND ONE ABOUT 1 INCH FROM THE END. STEP 4: TAKE MEASUREMENTS ONCE EVERYTHING IS FRAMED UP. CUT YOUR SHEETS OF MDF TO FIT EXACT ON THE TOP OF THE FRAME YOU BUILT WITH NO OVERHANG. THE TOP SHOULD BE FLUSH WITH FRAME. THIS WILL BE DONE IN 2 SEPARATE PIECES. TEST THE TOP OUT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS CUT RIGHT THEN REMOVE IT. TAKE YOUR LIQUID NAILS AND CAULK GUN AND APPLY IT TO ALL RAW WOOD ON THE FRAME ON THE MAIN DESK PORTION. YOU DO NOT NEED TO APPLY IT TO THE CUBICLES BUT YOU CAN ITS YOUR CHOICE. DO THE SAME FOR THE SIDE DESK EXCEPT ADD SOME LIQUID NAILS TO THE END PIECE THAT WILL BUTT UP AGAINST THE MAIN DESK TO ADHERE BOTH PIECES TOGETHER. STEP 5: NOW IF YOU USED PINE OR SIMILAR WOOD FOR THE FRAME YOU MAY HAVE SOME IMPERFECTIONS OR AROUND THE AREA YOU CUT IT MAY BE ROUGH. TAKE A PIECE OF SAND PAPER AND GO OVER THE WOOD TO GET IT SMOOTH WITH NO SPLINTERS. AFTER THIS IS DONE YOU MAY ADD TRIM TO WITH FINISHING NAILS (THE KIND WITHOUT A HEAD) TO THE EDGE OF THE DESK THAT WILL BE FLUSH WITH THE TOP. I USED A 1 INCH TRIM FOR THE TOP. STEP 6: TAKE SOME REGULAR "DAP KWIK SEAL CAULK"(LIKE YOU USE TO CAULK AROUND BATHTUBS AND SINKS) TO FILL IN THE LITTLE FINISHING NAIL HOLES. NOW TAKE YOUR WHITE PRIMER AND PUT 2 COATS ON THE FRAME AND TRIM. I WAITED 30 MINUTES IN BETWEEN EACH COAT. THEN APPLY YOUR PAINT (YOUR CHOICE) AGAIN I USED A CABINET AND TRIM IN WHITE BECAUSE ITS HIGH GLOSS AND EASY TO CLEAN. I APPLIED 2 COATS. I ADDED THIS BOOKSHELF THAT I HAD ALREADY TO THE UNDERNEATH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DESK FOR A LITTLE EXTRA. ITS NOT ATTACHED TO ANYTHING. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO DO THIS ITS RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE PLACE IN THERE BEFORE THE TOP IS IN PLACE SINCE THE STABALIZING PART OF THE FRAME IS IN THE MIDDLE. CLOSETMAID ALSO HAS THE COLLAPSIBLE FABRIC DRAWERS THAT FIT PERFECT IN THE CUBBYS. I WAS REAL LUCKY TO FIND 14 OF THE SAME COLOR MY COLOR SCHEME IN MY CRAFT ROOM IS ON CLEARANCE FOR $2.39/EACH. THEY ARE NORMALLY ABOUT $7.99/EACH. YOU CAN USE ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT THAT WILL FIT LIKE WOVEN BASKETS WOULD BE CUTE TOO OR NOTHING AT ALL. I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS PROJECT AND FOR THE MONEY ITS A GREAT WAY TO GO. THIS DESK HAS EVERYTHING I COULD EVER WANT IN A CRAFT DESK. IT IS TALL BUT ITS GREAT FOR PROJECTS THAT ARE EASIER TO DO STANDING AND THE TOP HAS SO MUCH WORK SPACE WITH LOTS OF ROOM. IF YOU MAKE ONE PLEASE SHARE SOME PHOTO'S WITH ME I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM!!!

HI EVERYONE... ...hope things are going good for you this week. I pulled up a few really cute ideas to use BURLAP COFFEE BEAN BAGS from Pinterest. I love this curtain over her kitchen sink... This would be very simple to do.... and a great change for the kitchen or even a bath, I think.. Cute little monogrammed PILLOW BOOKENDS. Bet they are filled with little sand bags. I REALLY like this idea of adding texture to your rooms. I have another coffee bag that I will use to make this when we get moved. I just LOVE these wine bottle bags. I love the different colors of straps here...and the little babbles hanging on some of them. You could really use your imagination on these and go totally wild. NOW....THIS little GARDEN SCARECROW is just about the ca-ut-tes thing I've seen in a long time..... At first look, I thought, "Holy Cow, I'd never be able to make him"...... but once I REALLY looked at him closely, I don't think he would be all that hard to create. He would be so adorable in a pretty garden....:) Give it lots of personality. So far, the little stool is all we've done with a burlap bag.... but, I sure intend to do more. Here's that cute bag that Jill of HOME A LA MODE made ...... her instructions on making it are HERE. She and her company are generously giving away ONE COFFEE BAG to one of my readers. Go to my GIVEAWAY PAGE and leave comments for a chance to win one of the Cafe S Do Brasil burlap coffee bags. Sharing the tutorial for the bag at TUTORIALS, TIPS AND TIDBITS

Today all creativity to write completely escapes me! So today I give you a post about my favorite Pinterest Trends as of currently...I know it might seem lame, but there are just days where writers block gets the best of me. My apologies, hopefully I can inspire you for our Pinstrosiversary Challenge which you can read all about in the link above! So get craftin' Pinstrosipeeps! This post is also mostly stuff that you can recycle out of things you already have around, or that require very little to no supplies for you to buy. I love this because being a Environmental Sustainability Major, lately it's all I think about, so this is a great post to think about what you can craft with things you already have laying around. Which we also talked about in this post. Emilee's Favorite (Current) Pinterest Trends (That Happen To Be Upcycled) First up, Maps! My house is COVERED in maps, globes, anything that resembles the aforementioned objects. I LOVE them, currently I have four globes just in my living room, which seems like a lot, but I make it work no worries. http://www.psbydila.com/sunday-faves-maps http://homeandgarden.craftgossip.com/9-cool-map-crafts-projects/ http://dishfunctionaldesigns.blogspot.com/2012/01/global-recycling-old-globes-upcycled.html Next Up: Upcycled Pallets as Furniture They are not only cheap but are easy to find, and then they aren't just thrown away. Awesomesause. http://www.interiorholic.com/decorating/handmade/on-budget-diy-bed-frame-ideas/ The one above gets installed in my house next week, I'm stoked! Pictures will be coming soon! http://www.twigandthistle.com/blog/2011/05/diy-pallet-headboard/ http://10dollardiy.blogspot.com/2012/02/3-diy-pallet-bookshelf.html http://ashleyannphotography.com/blog/2009/06/29/diy-pallet-reading-bed-for-the-nursery/ More Furniture out of upcycled wood, this time wood crates. http://blog.stylizimo.com/search/label/My%20home I actually had this one (above) in my house before I ever saw it on Pinterest, score! I used to work at a steakhouse and they got their corn in these type of crates, I asked my boss if I could take the empty crates home, which confused her..."You want the garbage?! To decorate your house?!" Hey, one woman's trash is another woman's treasure! And now they are in my living room! Free stuff rocks! http://diy-vintage-chic.blogspot.com/2012/05/vintage-wine-crate-coffee-table.html Corks are another recent popular trend... just like Marquette talks about here! http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=25821570 I know this one (above) is with wood, but at first I thought it was corks, and I kind of love that idea! I am going to do this one soon too! This one is originally $300 or so bucks from my other lover Anthropologie but with corks, which I can get here at the antique store for a gallon baggie for $3 I can do it for MUCH cheaper, especially since I would cut the corks into slices. http://moxandfodder.com/2012/03/10/diy-wine-cork-chandelier/ So is this something you guys like?! Or is this just more of the same stuff you see on Pinterest...let us know! We love your feedback! Have you taken one of these pins and used it for inspiration like I have?! I LOVE Pinterest as a starting point, I see maybe one idea I like the feel of and then let my brain take off from there! Before you know it my house is covered in maps, pallets, peacocks, nautical themes, and glass bottles ( I don't have kids yet which makes this idea feasible for now) and all of it I either got for free, at thrift stores or at garage sales. I love it! **I would also like to mention ALL of these are pins from my personal boards, and I get a little territorial with my pins. I don't like the idea of having the house next to me look exactly like mine, so the fact that I am sharing this with you means I love you all very much. Now that I think of it however, it feels stupid to feel that way in the first place, because it is on Pinterest and literally hundreds of other people have the same things on their boards. Sigh, time to let that worry go Emilee. You have more important things to worry about than silly Pinterest. Isn't it funny the things we can get caught up in?!** I hope you all had a great Wednesday Pinstrosipeeps! Today was crazy for me which is why I am posting so late, but I should have one up Friday morning no problem! Don't forget to watch for Marquette's post tomorrow!
